In the video, Kylie is naming all kinds of bizarre reasons for not wearing a mask, such as: “I can’t breathe in this thing because every time I put it on, I hold my breath on purpose” and “This is just another way to silence women!” and so on.

“I can’t put it on because I’m using one hand to hold the camera!”

Some of the fan’s favorite excuses include: “Someone might mistake me for a medical doctor and say ‘Oh, now you have to pay for medical school’!”, “How do I know if this isn’t full of spiders? There is no way for me to check!” and “My sister’s actually a scientist’s neighbour and she said that you can’t get a coronavirus if you don’t want to”.

When asked, how did she came up with the idea for this video, Kylie told us this: “I wanted to make fun of the flimsiness of the excuses people use for not wearing masks. I was inspired by that viral video a while back of a woman sitting in her car and vlogging about how traumatized she was from wearing a mask for 30 minutes and I thought, ‘oh, she’s absolutely faking this and her commitment to being an idiot is honestly inspiring’. So I basically just tried to channel that energy.”

The video has since gone viral and garnered over 114,000 retweets and more than 401,000 likes. “The response was overwhelmingly positive, but it was wild because, for all the crazy things I said in this video, there were a significant number of people who couldn’t tell it was satire. One guy who didn’t know I was just doing a character sent me a death threat with a picture of a voodoo doll that said: “Wear a mask or you’ll die in a week.” I think I’m gonna frame that and put it on my fridge,” Kylie told us.

When asked, how did the video going viral makes her feel, Kylie said this: “I got so many texts from people listing all the different places they found the video. It was crazy to see how far it had travelled. It’s nice to be recognized for my work, but I definitely changed all my passwords afterwards. I make content regularly, so hopefully, people stick around to see more of my stuff.” We’re sure about that, Kylie!
