Artists Fill Paris With 600 Fake Ads To Protest Corporate Sponsorship Of Climate Conference
Paris is grabbing the world's attention again, but this time, it's with environmental messages aimed at the world leaders, including Obama, that gathered for the COP21 climate conference on Monday. 600 fake posters denouncing major corporations were installed behind the glass at bus stops around the city by Brandalism, a UK-based project. 82 artists from 19 countries joined them to help fight corporate control in advertising.
"By sponsoring the climate talks, major polluters such as Air France and GDF-Suez-Engie can promote themselves as part of the solution - when actually they are part of the problem," Joe Elan from Brandalism said in their press release.
"Because the advertising industry force feeds our desires for products created from fossil fuels, they are intimately connected to causing climate change," Elan said. "We are taking their spaces back because we want to challenge the role advertising plays in promoting unsustainable consumerism."

I did, thank so much for sharing that fact
Load More Replies...Yep, caught again!! BUT, are we, the people, going to insist there is justice for the harm done or are we going to be happy with a "sincere sorry" and somewhat large fine with everything going back to "normal"?
Load More Replies...Oh yes, weren't those big white bears cute? My former Member of Parliament assured me that polar bears were once brown bears and would adapt!!! Wel, he's no longer my MP and no longer the party in power so let's see if we can change this notion of, "we will adapt".
Why not? If we believe in evolution then we must believe we will adapt?
Load More Replies...IDK what the CO2 emissions of planes are globally, but in the US they account for 3% of the total CO2 emissions. There's a bigger issue and it's called coal
Well, one of the main problems with CO2 emissions is when it, inevitably, combines with H2O forming H2CO3 hence creating ocean acidification. H2CO3 is lowering the pH, or the levels of salt in the oceans. Less salt equals less shell and finally rcuding th popualtion of all sea life animals. So, there is a problem with CO2 emissions, even if coal is a big problem aswell, we should work on stopping both of them at once.
Load More Replies...Toooo long to be a good statement. It makes sense though, but saying let's get together even as an entire population, it would be quite dificult to do much, better to have ideas from those who can actually pay them. Right?
Well your shouting its sexist, even though "women" is there. Guess it would be like this either way, don't you think? >=/
Load More Replies...Why would it be false, women's cant help save the world then?
Load More Replies...Nah because they are rich enough to buy fancy yachts and houses where the flooding won't hit. The poor are always the first to be affected by this kind of thing.
Load More Replies...I wonder how many people will be confused by your comment.
Load More Replies...Huge fan of Bored Panda, but to say that "Paris was bombed again" isn't very cool.
Trust me, the truth is worst than that.
Load More Replies...The line about Paris being bombed again is seriously bad taste. People died. Change it.
Yes, you are absolutely right, this was a mistake and we have corrected it. Thank you for the feedback!

How about taking some personal responsibility? Christ, you demand these products made by fossil fuels. It's not the advertisers fault. Pahlease, people have become entitled to faster and more convenient transportation (ubers, vehicles); people need more fragmented information at higher speeds...Corporations feed off of the public's demand. You don't want it then stop buying into it. The same people bashing corporations are the same people who will go out and buy the new iPhone, and indulge themselves with products after product after product. Talk about bribed politicians, well go to town hall meetings and voice your anger. If people really took responsibility we wouldn't indulge in Black Friday, Cyber Monday etc etc... This whole corporations is the enemy is such a hack. Trade, trade, trade that is how the world will turn. You don't like how it's being turned well first look into the mirror and asks yourselves why does it work? Why do ads impact our opinions, attitudes and behavior?
The thing is people will say it has to stop and take that decision, but only after (of course) everyone else does. If laws and better regulations were put in place, everyone would have to stop at the same time (and not after everyone else)... Why do you think we need governments in the first place? So that anyone can do whatever they want? I'm certainly not willing to trust others to be less selfish and look at themselves in the mirror to make mindfull decisions. Moreover, corporations and politicians can lie to the public and guess what? People believe those lies and go on with their consumer's lives. People need to know and to be slowly influenced into a change by bigger institutions such as the governments and the very corporations that are at the root of the problem. - We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.

It's sad, what we are doing to this world. Something must be done to better the world that we live in.
