Our Company Is Charging Us For Our Christmas Event
I wish this was fabricated, but unfortunately it is not. We just received an email telling us that we have to pay 10$ to attend the company Christmas party. While 10$ isn’t a lot, it isn’t about the money. I understand that they are facing budgeting issues but it seems absurd to ask for an employee to pay to attend. If they didn’t organize a party it would be better. This is the first year that this has ever happened, which is a great sign to start looking for another position.

What Is Up With Workplaces, Really
Not quite a rant, but as the recent shifts from remote or hybrid to back in the office were not enough, I suppose. With multiple rounds of layoffs companies are hanging on by a thread with completely burnt out workforce. Our team of 15 is now doing work of 42 - thanks, layoffs! Hiring is not really happening or if it is, with such an abundance of applicants companies are still playing hard-to-get and ask for so much stuff on the pre-screening stage.
What happened to just doing your job and leaving workplace behind every day at 5pm, disconnecting, spending time with friends, hobbies and families?!

Fortune 500 Company Has Forced Nights And Weekends For Months. Upside: Popcorn For All!
Misleading. The Layoffs were in 2024 and 2025 over a period of 11 months due to canceled contracts, 900 have already been hired back with their old seniority and payscale bonuses. They had 5 billion in profit, not 10 in 2025, which was why they began to rehire, as new contracts came it. Also the buyback of their stock began in January 2023, a record profit year, and they had made signed binding contracts to buy back their stocks from major shareholders within a 5 year period, legally obligating them. The last batch of those stocks were just bought back this past summer. BTW the reason for the buyback to prevent a stock dilution (which helps employees pensions) and also in 2022 they predicted a future downturn and by buying back stocks, it reduces shareholder pressure, leading to longer term investments and less future layoffs (in fact the 2024 layoffs would have been worse had they not bought back the 9.5 billion in stocks before the layoffs. This was complex business
