There's a diverse range of comics out there in both digital and physical form, and it's hard to think of any new angles to approach this well-established medium. However, some comic artists find a way to speak to their audiences and make their personal mark in this densely saturated field.
Duncan Lin is one of them. His comics don't have any pretenses, they focus on everything that's mundane and simple. However boring the topic of everyday life might seem to someone, Duncan always finds an interesting angle, a wise observation or a wholesome insight into this exhaustive topic. In a way, they're even somewhat therapeutic and meditative, and that's what makes Duncan's comics so distinct.

A note - everyone woke up here with no instruction book, just like you (even your parents!) and are trying to make life work with limited resources. Some people are born with more empathy and juice to share than others - keep looking for the people that help fill you up and help you out. They are out there! You may not get all the nourishment your soul needs from the people around you, but if you keep your heart open and your hope going (its really challenging but really essential), you will eventually gather enough. This is a lifetime search, so asking a higher power to walk with you while you go is a big help, too. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
“Children; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. They no longer rise when elders enter the room, they contradict their parents and tyrannize their teachers. Children are now tyrants.” -Socrates, proving even the wisest-man in history already suffered from the grumpy-old-man syndrom.
You made me mad until the end and now I think you’re a comedy genius

Increasing urban life with its temptations, prematurities, sedentary occupations, and passive stimuli just when an active life is most needed, early emancipation and a lessening sense for both duty and discipline, the haste to know and do all befitting man's estate before its time, the mad rush for sudden wealth and the reckless fashions set by its gilded youth—all these lack some of the regulatives they still have in older lands with more conservative conditions."
From an 1816 issue of the Times of London: "The indecent foreign dance called the 'Waltz' was introduced ... at the English Court on Friday last ... It is quite sufficient to cast one's eyes on the voluptuous intertwining of the limbs, and close compressure of the bodies ... to see that it is far indeed removed from the modest reserve which has hitherto been considered distinctive of English females ... [Now that it is] forced on the respectable classes of society by the evil example of their superiors, we feel it a duty to warn every parent against exposing his daughter to so fatal a contagion."
In Paris Fashion: A Cultural History, Valerie Steele published a letter sent to Town and Country magazine in November 1771 by a reader who wanted to get something off of his chest: "Whither are the manly vigor and athletic appearance of our forefathers flown? Can these be their legitimate heirs? Surely, no; a race of effeminate, self-admiring, emaciated fribbles can never have descended in a direct line from the heroes of Potiers and Agincourt ..."
Not always. I still love my mother better than anyone else. (Not in a creepy way)
@Who Panda 420 that's very sweet of you to adore your Mom so much. Don't ever stop! One day if you have kids you will experience a love far greater than anything else you've ever felt. A mom understands that. No one comes before my children.

Omg I can totally relate with this except it’s an internal battle- whether I should get up and eat or do nothing
Hey BP he edited himself. Notice they didn't edit out "die" in this one. Wonder if it slipped past the sensors because it's an image?
to be honest, they also do it with pictures. it’s silly they censor die and kill (wonder why they haven’t this time) but not words that are actually harmful like the r word. to be honest i hate that word and felt awful just writing “the r word”

My friends are like a lovely, delicious, and healthy snack...... (To me more specific: My friend exist. A snack that great doesn't btw)
This is me. I'll always be here for you, because I'll always be literally right here.
My friend has absolutely atrocious handwriting. even when i do manage to read it, many of the words are improper grammar. For example, he spelled silent as “sighlent”, and confirmed that was the intended word before saying I just “couldn’t read his handwriting”. No s**t, i copied/drew a copy of his handwriting in my notebook and asked people what it said, not a single person out of 14 students translated the entire excerpt correctly (about 25 words) according to him.
Isn't it funny this is the only profession where bad handwriting is acceptable yet people's life hangs in the balance. There have actually been quite a few cases where nurses have misunderstood doctors orders written down and people have died because of it. Hopefully this will get better in the digital age
My mom too. Always failed whenever me and sis are up to mischief in a team :')

Due to my incapacity of getting up early in the morning, I have reached expert level at looking and sounding perfectly awake only 5 minutes after bursting out of bed.
Nothing is as hard as math. At least to me. In 5th grade I had a college reading level. Failing math. Does anyone know what it's called when you have dyslexia but with numbers? I know there's a name for it but that was my issue.
Dyscalculia is a math learning disability that impairs an individual's ability to learn number-related concepts, perform accurate math calculations, reason and problem solve, and perform other basic math skills. 1. Dyscalculia is sometimes called “number dyslexia” or “math dyslexia.”

I am 58 yrs old and I will never "get over" the fact that my teacher and parents decided that I was purposely not learning math. And that I should be severely punished for my alleged defiance. I can't remember if it was 3rd or 4th grade that I was not allowed to have recess or go to library all year (per teacher) and was not allowed out of my room and was beat with a belt amongst other things. A few years ago I asked my father WTF were they thinking!? I thought that he was probably going to deny it happened instead he claimed it was all justified because "it worked didn't it" My reply "Im moving to Tennessee" and I did! Now I have 700 miles between my family and me and realize I should have got away from those horrific people 35 yrs ago!
I feel your pain! My parents didnt medicate or get me treatment for a neurological disorder that they hoped I'd grow out of. But my Dad discovered later, that when I was terrified, it would momentarily override my challenges, and so then would employ fear when I needed to perform on something important, like SAT'S or getting my driver's licence. To be fair, he knew I was intelligent and capable, but none of us knew how to get my executive functioning to work when it was wanted, so he used that technique in order for me to not miss out on some important life milestones. I am grateful for this now, even if the tactics were harsh in their desperation. Sounds like your parents might have been trying something like that. I just wanted to let you know you aren't alone in this kind of experience. Hope you are finding gentle ways to approach things for yourself, now that you are in charge of your growth!

It's the most horrible feeling watching your parents get old. It's like a slow torture and also a preview of what is going to happen to you in the future. But honestly I'd rather see myself get old than have to continue to watch it happen to my parents.
It's even worst to have them die rather young. Trust me, I'd rather have watched my mom live to her 90s and push her everywhere in a wheelchair than to say goodbye to her at 68 while she was hooked up to a respirator after a massive hemorrhagic stroke, the second day of 2022.
