Abused Dog Who Spent 8 Years Sleeping On Concrete Floor In Basement Gets All The Beds She Wants

Lola the doggie had spent 8 years chained up in a dark garage just lying on cold concrete floor, prior to being rescued by AMA Animal Rescue. For the last seven weeks she has been living with her new human mom, Charlène von Saher, in Manhattan. During that time, the abused doggie has already perfected the art or relaxation, taking the concept of ‘comfort’ to the next level.

“She figured out where her little beds were, and what was soft and what was comfortable for her,” von Saher told The Dodo. She has done it all – sleeping across two dog beds, stacking one dog bed on top of the other and even stealing von Saher’s pillow to put into her bed.

“She actually took a throw pillow off of my bed, and put it into her dog bed,” von Saher said. “When I came home, her head was on it — she literally made herself a little bed in her bed with my pillow. It was like ‘The Princess and the Pea’ — I guess she liked having multiple cushions underneath her.”

Von Saher feels like she couldn’t have found a better dog for a busy New Yorker like herself, as Lola always reminds her of the importance of chilling. “I absolutely adore her,” von Saher added. “She’s added so much to my life already.”

Good for you, giving her a new and improved life, she has made you her girl. Lola owns you not the other way around. Congrats Lola for picking a loving person to own.

My puppy-mill rescue Pomeranian did not know what a bed was. Poor thing would sit next to the bed, acting as if she would get in trouble if she touched it. I would gently push her into it, and she would lounge SO hard, only getting out when she had to...then she would return and sit next to the bed looking sad again until I pushed her back into it. She figured out in a couple weeks that it was hers, but the simple fact that she was not even given a bed by the jerk who only saw her as a puppy factory made me cry.

Slightly off: does anyone have an idea, how to stop a dog from destroying his bed? Our little doggo has to sleep on concrete too, because uhmm... well, whatever bed we got for him, he never used it, only got it into pieces XD Any ideas?

My dog outgrew shredding the beds. I put old towels for a while that were ripped by him. After 2-3 years he settled down.

I hope you mean the 'person' who has kept the dog chained in the garage for 8 years. If not put down but they should be banned from keeping pets for ever, for sure.
