John Hancock, former president of United States Congress, has arguably one of the most famous signatures around. As the first signer of the Declaration of Independence, he led the charge for what was considered treason against the king. Popular history writes that he wrote his name in such large letters so that "The fat old king could read it without his spectacles." Because of his bravery, hand lettering signatures are now often referred to as a ‘John Hancock.’
Bored Panda has compiled a list of other famous peoples ‘Hancocks,’ and some of these artists' signatures are so extravagant they knock the congressman down a few spots. Some popular celebrities even scrawled a cartoon image by their name, and I’m sure you can imagine what Walt Disney drew. OK, I'm really sorry if this offends you but...Jackson's plastic surgified-face gives me the creeps. It just does. It's the face of someone who has done many things, not of all them good. Seen stuff too. It's the face of a hurt person, a sad person, an angry person and a scared person. It's the face of regret. And it's a face we have to learn from. I do hate when people call him a pedophile while not knowing a s**t. Always. Every time someone does that they use the payoff and that the Leaving Neverland accusers are credible in their minds and alleged childporn being found at Neverland when the judge in the 2005 trial together with the prosecution went out in a public statement saying that no, there wasn't any childporn. The payoff didn't buy anyone's silence. The Chandlers could still have pressed criminal charges. He paid because the civil case went before the criminal and if you don't know why that is bad then you get to google it up yourself. The law was changed because of that particular incident so that a criminal trial must come before a civil one, which should tell you it's bad. The Leaving Neverland accusers aren't believable at all, changing stories, the timeline, seeking $1.5 billion dollars from the Jackson Estate and then the huge train station lie and I just can't. People who blindly believe them are nutshells.

I would suspect, actually, that this is fairly difficult to forge. To do the correct number of loops of the correct size while moving the pen naturally (because they can tell if you don't) would probably be *harder* than doing the correct number of loops of something more familiar, ie letters. I mean, I'm not an expert. But I've played around with copying people's handwriting and that's just how it seems to me.

When he was twelve years old, he carved that into a Beatles album with a safety pin. I think it was The White Album. Anyway, he played that record to death because he would carve his name in it repeatedly, left it out in the hot sun to warp, listened to it some more, carved random messages into the vinyl, listened to it as the audio deteriorated over time, and that's how Radiohead got its sound.

Finally free of what....? I don't want to sound combative here but the man himself said many times that his wheelchair didn't have him trapped; that he became the scientist he was because of his wheelchair. He was already a brilliant scientist, suffering a debilitating disease, and the chair gave him the freedom to continue learning and discovering and sharing his wealth of knowledge. So if you're saying "free" as in free of his illness, I agree, but please understand that he didn't feel limited by his mobility device, because like many disabled people, it gave him the tools necessary to live life to the fullest he could manage.

There is a reason why I bought a Mac, it was not to be one of the cool kids that wanted the best of the best. No it was because of the music production I do on it. Hours and hours sitting in front of my Mac copying, pasting, moving, deleting, hour after hour just beating on my Mac in a endless assault to get my work done. That is the key part, my work. I work from home, it is great, but even if it is from home it is still work and it still needs to get done. So my Mac, I have it because it is fast, gets the job done and comes back for more. But what happens when it doesn’t want to do those things anymore? I move around massive amounts of information and yes even on the almighty Mac this can cause a problem after a while. Things fragment, programs get corrupted issues come up. My light speed Mac slows down to a crawl and all of the sudden I simply can not get any work done. Because I work from home there is no IT guy to call and ask to come fix it. No instead I have to figure out what

John Hancock's signature is not famous because of its "flourish." It's famous because of its size. He wrote it that big so the king of England could see it "without using his spectacles." All the signers would have been hanged for treason if America had lost the revolution. Hancock was showing his bravery in his signature. Learn your history Bored Panda.

Most vary from their everyday signature, EXCEPT John Hancock... his is on our Declaration of Independence- along with several other well known ”four fathers”.

I met Nicholas Cage in a San Francisco restaurant & got his signature on a random card from my purse. Super nice guy but just a bit of a strange bird. I met David Lee Roth after winning a radio contest. He was a douche!

It isn't "handwriting," though. Many of these are autographs, not signatures.
