These 26 Photos By Marcel Heijnen Show Why Street Cats Belong In Every City Scene

Cats have a special talent for making themselves at home just about anywhere. Whether they're lounging in the middle of a busy shop, keeping an eye on passersby, or claiming an unexpected corner as their favorite resting spot, these furry residents seem to move through city life with complete confidence. And sometimes, they make the most ordinary places look surprisingly charming. Dutch photographer Marcel Heijnen has spent years documenting these fascinating feline encounters, capturing cats in shops, markets, and streets around the world.

Beyond their undeniable charm, these photographs also capture a quieter side of urban life. Amid crowded streets, busy storefronts, and everyday routines, the cats seem perfectly content to take things at their own pace. And through Marcel's lens, these ordinary moments become little stories filled with character, humor, and plenty of feline personality. Known for projects such as Shop Cats of Hong Kong and City Cats of Istanbul, his photography offers more than just adorable animal portraits. Each image also offers a glimpse into the places these cats call home and the communities they share. Today, we're excited to feature another collection of his work.
