I Captured Fairytale-Like Autumn In Romania With $250 Camera To Show You Don’t Need Expensive Gear

It took me 6 years to hike all around the northern part of the Romanian Carpathian mountains to find breathtaking sceneries and capture the fairytale spirit of the Autumn.

For all of those who are asking themselves what kind of equipment I used to make this photos, the answer is actually an advice. You don’t need expensive equipment for making landscape photography. Back then, when I made these photos, I used a DSLR camera, which cost me around 250$ with the kit lens, and a telephoto lens which I bought back in the times with 150$. Also, I used some filters. It’s all about the perfect moment, the perfect spot and the sweet light of autumn evenings and mornings…

For all the people bitching about him using Photoshop, Isn't that the reason why PS was created for in the first place? Making good phtographs look even better?? I think he did a great job with a few resourses, that is the point of the article.

People complaining about photoshop are missing the point. This photographer didn't need expensive photo equipment to create these images. They needed a cheaper camera and a copy of Photoshop. there is nothing wrong with creating artful photographs.

Sad that there are so many people here who can't just look at beautiful images and appreciate them, however they were produced. Presumably the people who complain most are the ones who want to put as little effort as possible into everything they (don't) create. Yes, he's retouched the photos... could you do that? I couldn't right now, but someone could teach themselves to do it, if they put in the effort, and these photos give them something to aim for. Great work. Great skill. Well done.

The title is kinda deceiving... alright you took beautiful pictures with no expensive gear, but you should've claimed you also used post production. However I'm not judging you for that, post production is an art as well. I see many people making the wrong use of it, I use Photoshop myself to make some adjustments, but I always try to keep it as real as possible. People bitching should know MOST famous photos are photoshopped or even staged, but photoshop is not a miracle wand people. If you take a c**p picture it won't turn into an art work. I like to say that you capture with your camera and then you paint with PS. You did a great job in my opionion.

About that 'inexpensive' camera. Yeah, there are many more expensive cameras. But $250 for a camera is too much for people trying to keep a roof over their head and struggling to feed kids these days, let alone back...whenever. Those people need work and I'd bet a good number of them would make good photographers -- if they could afford whatever camera has replaced an Instamatic these days. Frame of reference should be something familiar to a photographer. So he should understand his audience a bit more. He simply has a different frame of reference to life than most of his audience. Photoshopped pictures (and nowhere in the text is Photoshop mentioned) should be designated as such as full disclosure. The article says, "...with the kit lens, and a telephoto lens which I bought back in the times with 150$. Also, I used some filters. It’s all about the perfect moment, the perfect spot and the sweet light of autumn evenings and mornings…" That's photography.
