Butterfly Portraits

We humans tend to consider insects not as individuals but as tiny work machines: soulless creatures plodding inexorably day by day and only pursuing one single aim – to secure the survival of their race. We assume they do nothing but follow their instinct. Hence, we also won’t attach any individuality to a single insect. It is always one of thousands – and never one of a kind.

I portrayed butterflies like individuals, like unique parts of a society. Because that’s what they actually are.

Each has personality, each shows his own character-face.
