Among A Sea Of Monarch Butterflies In Mexico — The Most Magical Thing I’ve Ever Seen (35 New Pics)
One day, I found myself in a dream. I still can’t believe I spent several days surrounded by hundreds of thousands of these beautiful creatures in Mexico. This incredible butterfly is called the Danaus monarch—the only butterfly that migrates. Every year, thousands of monarchs fly from North America to Mexico to spend the winter, breed, and then return north.
Those who survive the journey carry the memory of generations before them, fluttering through time and distance. What I saw there still feels unreal — scroll down to experience a glimpse of this magic for yourself.

I am absolutely gobsmacked at how beautiful these pix are - thanks!!!!!!!!!!
Many years ago, I visited a campground outside of Santa Cruz, CA. My space was in front of a small grassy area surrounded by trees. There was a single break in the trees with a sign that said 'Private'. For the two days I was there, there were Monarchs floating across the grass. On the day before I left, I decided to just peek inside the path through the trees. What I saw made me forget the 'Private' sign and step inside to a small clearing. The trees were covered with a million Monarch butterflies like they were leaves. If I looked up, it was like looking up into a tornado of butterflies, all circling above me. I don't know how long I stood there looking with my mouth open. Several people walked by me. I'm assuming they were the owners of the houses who could access the path. They all smiled at my astonishment and no one told me to leave. Thank you, people, for being so kind about that because I know I wasn't supposed to be there. But it was one of the most awesome days of my life.
