In the series “Abandoned Dream,” the Brazilian photographer Fábio Maciel captures houses abandoned during construction.

“I grew up hearing that every Brazilian’s dream is to own a home. All governments, one after another, launch their housing programs – the ‘My house, my life’ for the time being. When I see an abandoned house, I ask myself: Why? Why did they give up? What led you to throw away all your time, money, and energy? What led you to abandon your dream? We will have several answers, but the fact remains that these monuments to frustration and defeat stand. Which are the abandonment of a dream.”

Graduated in Graphic Design and with a postgraduate degree in Photography, Maciel has been working as a photographer for about 15 years, the last ten years being a photo reporter for the Brazilian Air Force.
