Woman Tries To Convince Herself Her BF Wouldn’t Cheat On Her But Internet Quickly Clocks Him
Interview With ExpertTrust is everything in a relationship, and most people believe their partner without question unless something happens that makes them feel doubtful. Even a tiny bit of suspicion can ruin the foundation folks have built together.
This is what a woman experienced after noticing that her photographer boyfriend had changed his phone wallpaper to a picture of a model he was friends with. That, combined with other odd behaviors, led her to think he was being unfaithful, but she got the biggest surprise when she actually decided to uncover the truth.
Everyone hopes that their loved one will be faithful, but certain situations might cause them to question their blind trust
The poster got to know her boyfriend when he photographed her during her modeling days, but ever since she quit, she never once worried about her boyfriend’s faithfulness
The woman began to suspect something was fishy when her boyfriend spent late nights with a model named Rachel, texted her often, and used her photo as his wallpaper
The poster questioned her boyfriend about his connection with Rachel, who was recently single, but he said that they were just “kindred” when it came to photography
Folks were suspicious of the man’s behavior, and a few shared stories about similar incidents that ended up as relationship-ruining affairs
In an update, the woman clarified questions about her relationship and said that she had met her boyfriend at lunch to directly confront him about his behavior
Since the woman was very angry, they continued their discussion in her car, and that’s when her boyfriend revealed that he had a crush on Rachel ever since he met her
The man also admitted to sleeping with the model, but claimed that he still wanted to continue the relationship with his girlfriend and work things through
The woman refused to forgive her cheating boyfriend and ended the relationship immediately, which caused her a lot of pain since it was her first real breakup
The poster also mentioned that her ex-boyfriend’s mom, step-brother, and two friends were on her side, and she felt embarrassed and disgusted by his behavior
Nobody wants to believe that their loved one is cheating, which is why it can be quite easy to ignore any infidelity red flags. According to therapists, folks should pay attention to whether their partner’s phone habits have changed, which could signal they are having an affair. This could include changing their password without telling you, hiding their device, not letting you use their phone, or quickly deleting texts.
Also pay attention to their emotional availability and whether their communication or how they spend time with you has shifted. If they suddenly seem withdrawn, closed off, or keep making excuses to be out late, it could indicate something suspicious they are hiding.
Even if an individual feels that their partner is having an affair, it can be quite difficult to confront them about it
To understand how to bring such a topic up with a loved one, Bored Panda reached out to Figs O’Sullivan and Teale Taxis. They are married couples therapists and the founders of Empathi.com and Figlet.ai. Figs has spent 17 years in the room with more than 3,000 couples. Teale has more than 15,000 clinical hours. Together, they built Figlet, the AI relationship coaching app that provides people with expert relationship guidance.
According to them, “the most natural, immediate human impulse is to turn into a detective: checking phones, reading text logs, scanning social media, asking the same probing questions over and over to build an airtight legal brief. That detective work makes complete rational sense when you feel unsafe, but bringing a courtroom prosecution to your partner almost always backfires.”
Unfortunately, this behavior can make the other person feel defensive, explain away evidence, or shut down in cold silence. That’s why Figs explains that people should “name [their] vulnerable truth. When you speak from raw heartbreak rather than prosecution, you stop triggering their fight-or-flight, and you give the real human being inside them a chance to step out from behind the armor,” he mentioned.
Confronting the other person or learning about their affair can bring up feelings of anxiety or despair, which is why people need to take time to focus on their own mental health. Prioritizing yourself can be tough, but it is an important step on the path to recovery.
In some cases, though, people might want to repair their relationship after infidelity, and Fig O’Sullivan explains that they “often tell couples that the vast majority of relationships, what we’ve called 99%, are salvageable if both people are willing to face the raw truth, put down their protective armor, and do the necessary proof of work together.”
“Healing from an affair requires a fundamental reframe: you cannot save or return to the old relationship. That pre-affair relationship, with its unaddressed emotional vacuums, quiet distance, or naive assumptions, is gone,” he said. People need to work hard to build an entirely new, sound relationship from scratch.
If people really want to stay with their partner who cheated, both folks need to actively try to solve the issues between them before moving ahead
Figs mentioned that “forgiveness after betrayal is not a one-and-done transaction. It’s an over-and-over conversation. When a trigger inevitably happens months or years later, real repair is the betrayer not rolling their eyes, but stepping forward, holding their partner’s hand, and saying: ‘I see that you’re scared right now, and I am right here with you.’”
This is what could have saved the relationship between the woman and her boyfriend, but instead he refused to accept his mistakes and acted like his affair was inconsequential. This likely pushed the woman over the edge and made her realize she didn’t want to accept such terrible behavior.
Do you agree with her decision to end the relationship, or do you think the poster should have worked things out with her partner? We’d love to hear your perspective.
People sided with the woman for not rolling over and accepting her boyfriend’s behavior, and said that Rachel would also probably leave him soon enough

The thrill of Forbidden Rachel will wear off soon (or the thrill will wear off for *her* and she'll dump him), and he will be back around to the OP begging for forgiveness and a fresh start. She seems smart and strong enough not to fall for it; hopefully he will learn his lesson about the foolishness of succumbing to temptation the *next* time he considers blowing up a good relationship for a little illicit chemistry and excitement. (But I'm not TOO hopeful. He's got strong "I'm just an innocent victim of circumstance" vibes.)
