Bound & Bitten

A torpedo straight to my heart,

Your beak piercing deeply.

Your jaws of life drain mine as you feed,

Yet I am suspended while you rest.

Arms bound so tightly ‘round me..

I can’t move, I can’t cry, I can’t breathe!

How can I remove this beast and survive?

Parasites care nothing for their hosts,

They will bleed them dry if that is their purpose.

That’s it, that’s all, no hard feelings..right?

However, you’ve made a fatal error dear guest:

Once you become part of me,

You become an extension of me.

I take every challenge and adversity

And use it to strengthen me.

Would you like to know what I have

Planned for you, my dear?

I’m going to keep your beak in my heart

And cap it with a crystal lens.

With your gift others will see

That the light from the Sun,

Doesn’t hold a candle

To the light from within.

Fear doesn’t live here anymore.
