After undergoing extreme body modifications, Anthony Loffredo has amassed 1.3 million followers on Instagram.

But the man, who is also known as the Black Alien, has said that people “judge” him and it makes his everyday life quite difficult.

Speaking on an episode of the Club 113 podcast, Loffredo said: “I can’t find a job, there’s lots of negative stuff. It could be positive because you feel better, but you have to know there’s also a dark side.”

Tats sure, personal style choice? Maybe, depending on job position and image of the company. But severing your fingers will drastically impact the kind of work you are physically able to do and the extent of these modifications has definitely put his life at risk from infection at the very least. He is clearly willing to trade-off function (hearing, fingers) and maybe even health for this look. That would set-off alarm bells about his mental health to me as an employer. I'm normally against pathologizing people's aethetic choices (there are enough stupid example of this from the 90s!) but once it's affecting function? That's crossed a line

I came here to say this. No way his manual abilities have not been affected by cutting off fingers. In one corner shop near my uni there's (or was, I haven't been there in a month because of summer break) an employee with extensive body modifications, including so much black ink on his whole body that at first, from the distance, I thought he was a very dark skinned Black person rather than a heavily tatted Caucasian one. He was polite and professional and I was just happy for him, I mean - good for you dude, and good for the owner to not let prejudice rule them. However, none of the body modifications he has affected function

Yeah, his actions do not match his words. A person that chooses to look like this does not want to be normal. Normal is basically the most common of society and our common society (of the human race) does not look like this. To him, maybe he is finding his real self but it is not normal until more then half of his society looks similar.

He's French, but he had his nose removed in Spain and his fingers removed in Mexico, so he's obviously earning enough to travel widely and pay for surgery. He had his upper lip removed and split, and his tongue has been split in two, and he has difficulty speaking clearly now. Like that couldn't have been predicted...

There's no depth or reasoning in his words. I don't think he understands himself at all and why he feels he needs to go to such extremes. I mean, splitting his penis?! I hope some professional sees this and can offer him some insight - but he can only be helped if he wants to be. This is incredibly sad. What a lonely individual

Doesn't he have any family or friends that could have encouraged him to get help before he did all this? The fact he crosses the street not to scare people makes me sad. He must be pretty lonely. And the people that have done body modifications this extreme should be fined! I also don't think getting his penis split in half is gonna help with him finding a girlfriend!

Also, I've had tattoos, piercings and colored hair since I was a teen (I'm 42 now.) I've had to make sure my modifications worked with my jobs. At times, I've had to cover my tatts with clothing, cover my piercings with band-aids, and dye my hair a more normal (but still bright red) color. You can't expect people to hire you. He seems nice, and I hope he can find a job that is ok with it. But it's going to be a challenge.

If you want to be into body modification, he should have sought a job in it. He has a distinct look, and would have done well helping others to do that. Otherwise, it's going to be hard to find a job. It's more acceptable to go to a store and find people with piercings and tatts, but there is a limit.

He mangled his hearing, his hands, his lips and tongue, so he disabled himself from being able to function normally for this look and is surprised he can't get a job? Wait a few years till the post where he regrets it and has tried to reverse some of it. Sorry kiddo, there's a difference between mods and mangling. How do you eat or lift things or type? If you find someone to split your wee wee how are you going to use the bathroom? Really.

I mean, honestly, what did he think would happen once he did all these strange things to himself? It’s actually quite sad really that he was so unhappy as he was that he chose to do all of those “body modifications” to feel better about himself. Sorry but it looks awful. And some changes are permanent, as in forever. No doctor should have done some of those operations. It’s not moral. It’s unscrupulous. Poor guy. I hope he finds happiness somewhere. Hey, couldn’t he do online work? Like customer service support? Boring, I know. I worked in a call center for almost 5 years and it’s not the funnest job but sure doesn’t matter what you look like.

The man is an attention whore. "I just like to be looked at like a normal person." NO YOU F*CKING DON'T!! You didn't get a few tattoos that were meaningful to you. You turned yourself into a Halloween decoration & now you're whining b/c everyone's judging you. Of course we are!! What you've done to yourself goes beyond what any reasonable person who ever hopes to have any sort of normal life would ever do. What kind of job did you think would hire you looking like that? School districts? Wall Street? Normally I'm the first one to sympathize w/ someone suffering from mental illness, but I don't see mental illness here. All I see is someone who figured they could capitalize on looking like a freak while also playing the victim, and he's got both roles down Pat.

This is a rather extreme version of how people can go when they are allowed to identify as something they are not...and im glad that people on here are recognising that it's clearly a mental health issue. With no disrespect, if nobody's willing to employ you, employ yourself. Open a startup. Be an entrepreneur. Nowadays you can make money through social media too. If you have that much money for modifications, you can have some to run a business as well.

This guy has some serious mental issues that need to be addressed. I am for being unique and individual, but this is literally thumbing your nose at all of humanity and distancing yourself. Colour yourself in as much as you like, but actively making yourself disabled is not a good sign. There's a medical term for this. Maybe he needs to do some training and get an office job somewhere. Once the rest of the employees got used to him, he'd be able to carry on. But I doubt front facing would work, other than in speciality work places, where the unusual is normal.

This is disgusting. An extreme waste of money and life. I have no sympathy for him and no desire to stand next to him. I don't actually care about what people do to themselves, I think everybody deserves to own their own life and choices, but no way to work up any sympathy that he can't get a job. He was handsome and pleasant looking and now looks like a monster. Nobody wants to work having to see a monster in their everyday life. Blech.

Most companies have the weird notion that their employees are direct representatives of the business. Within that paradigm. … it should be understood thst they want the faces selling the product to not bring attention to anything not related to the goods and services being offered. I’m sure there are businesses out there who would love the attention the BAP would bring to them, although other than a body modification front … nothing else springs to my mind

The surgeons should be utterly ashamed and be banned from performing further procedures on anyone
