Got Todlerred: Parents Are Sharing Photos Of Them Before And After Having Kids, And The Difference Is Too Real
Everything takes its toll, and raising children is no exception. Mike Julianelle of a blog called Dad and Buried has started a funny trend, making people post side-by-side photos before and after they became parents to show how their little kids 'ruined' them.
Julianelle has a 7-year-old and a nearly-2-year-old and has been sharing the real truth about parenting on his blog for quite some time now. After he uploaded his version of 'Before and After parenthood,' others quickly followed. "Obviously, it's meant to be lighthearted, and no one is seriously blaming their children for the state of their faces or lives," Mike told HuffPost. "Except for me when I seriously blame my kids for the state of my face and my life, which is basically all I do on my blog and Facebook page and Twitter," he then joked.
According to Julianelle, the main message of this story is the fact that it's okay, to be honest about the pitfalls of raising kids. "There's no shame in admitting that for all the peaks, there are plenty of pits in daily life. Kids are the worst best thing that's ever happened to us and if we don’t laugh about the havoc they wreak we'd have to cry instead and I’m not a crier."

Exactly my thought...
Aaaand, yeah.... don't want children anymore XD
So nothing really, because they are older in the photos. That's because of age, not children. Oh, yes, in some photos they look tired. Might be a huge surprise, but people can be tired without children as well.
Children stress you out enormously, and stress damages your health. It's not just age, it's mostly stress that makes them so exhausted. You can age and still be fresh, well rested, and healthy. These people are consumed by stress, tiredness and sleep deprivation.
I have three kids and you don't know what you're talking about. I've had a lot of stress in my life and been through crippling depression and anxiety. None of it has ever come from my kids! My kids are literally the reason I continue to exist. They are my motivation. They are my life. I adore them to bits.
umm, I have a son and those things you write about are made-up bullshit (: If you don't want kids, then don't have them, your choice, but don't tell everyone that we are unhealthy, consumed by stress and sleep deprived, because you have no idea how life with children is if you don't have any (and no, what you see at your friend's house na din the TV doesn't count).
There is negative stress, but there is also positive stress. A child can make you so happy, if you really are prepared to embrace the wonder that it brings to your life, that you can withstand much stress without any negative health effects!
Yet there are studies that show that parents live longer than people without kids...
Nothing deprives you of sleep like becoming a parent. And sleep deprivation is considered a torture, so... But I would like to see more of them with a smile, though.
well, meth does a good job of sleep deprivation as well
If you do it right, you are only sleep deprived for about 8-12 weeks. Then the rest is easy.
Oh I agree with you, it is torture. I have an 8 month old baby. I had hoped that by now I would sleep 8 hours, but I am lucky if I get even 6, because we have to keep waking up for her night feeds, still. There was a time when I went for over 6 weeks with only 5 to 6 hours of sleep per night because I was busy on the weekends too so I couldn't catch up. I came to a point where I felt like I was really tortured, I even cried saying I feel like I am being punished. I was physically sick and mentally exhausted, my mind kept freezing I felt useless at work. I am a person who does not like crying, I feel weak when I cry, but 1 day I lost it and cried because I couldn't take it anymore. I needed to sleep. Please can someone share how they got their baby to sleep through the night. I was told when she is 6 months she will sleep better, they lied to me.
You are soooo right....
Ask every parent if they regret it. Most of them would say no! Yeah we are tired and sometime our kid drives us crazy, but nothing can beat a: ''I love you mommy" or "I love you daddy" from our kids.
or goodbye Dad, I'm finally moving out............pure bliss
and do i have to add this powerfull image who makes me cry each damn time? That when we have kids we grow up and realise that we don't thinking about ourself anymore Capture-59...a96891.jpg
Ann Landers did a reader survey in the 1980's. Her question to her readers was "Given the chance to do it over, would you have had children?" 90% of readers voted NO!
Or the mere experience of having a newborn fall asleep in your arms. You are fast awake in those moments, even after not sleeping at all for several days straight.
There is nothing greater in life.
@Cassandra S A puppy or a kitten, or any other baby animal that isn't a screaming human being xD
