Baroque-Inspired Portraits Of Black Girls Highlight Their Amazing Natural Hair So Other Girls Would Stop Hiding It
We are all full of natural beauty, we just need to bring it out. Regis and Kahran, a husband and wife team behind CreativeSoul did just that, only for young black ladies. Focusing on their hair, the duo created Afro Art, a series of gorgeous portraits that has cast a spell on everyone’s eyes.
The stunning photos feature girls in elaborate costuming and hairstyles, from the Baroque period (roughly, 1600-1750) to steampunk clothing and fierce high-fashion ensembles. “We feel that it is so important for kids of color to be able to see positive images that look like them in the media,” Kahran told My Modern Met. “Unfortunately the lack of diversity often plays into the stereotypes that they are not ‘good enough’ and often forces kids to have low self-esteem.”
“We hope that viewers will see the beauty and versatility of afro hair and we hope that girls around the world will be inspired to love their unique differences and beauty within.” They have worked on the series in various states in the US, and even though the preparation was meticulous, the duo managed to maintain a level of spontaneity.

So many times when someone talks about natural kinky hair it's the loose curls that's shown. So happy to see type 4 hair here too. And their edges are laid! Slay!
I have like 5 hairs in 3 rows so this is really amazing to me. But i guess if you have hair like that, you really start to get annoyed by it. See, i can easily wash my hair and go to bed without drying it, in the morning it is all fine. I just make a pony tail and off I go. But this kinda hair is (i guess) pretty high maintenance. But even though i would like to experience to have hair like that once. Long story short: Sorry for the bla bla bla. These pictures and all the girls are absolutely gorgeous!!!
High maintenance or not I still envy their gorgeous hair. I look like Gollum after a shower.
Well in all honesty yes it is both. It is high maintenance and also beautiful. If I had the time it takes to wash, comb, moisturize and style my African American tightly curled hair I would totally rock it. Unfortunately I barely have time to eat breakfast in the morning. So for now, for me and a lot of other African Americans I straighten it chemically so I can also wash, sleep, ponytail (with a leave in conditioner and hair wrap in before bed ; ) . A lot of African Americans don't where there natural hair not because they are ashamed or anything, But simply because we they can't or don't want to take the time it takes to maintain natural hairstyles.
I’m sorry. You want to EAT? Shame on you. ;) (seriously. Some days it’s “hmmm should I eat or shower? I only have time for one.” (Damn kids)

SO instead you destroy it with chemicals, you should try protective styling or wigs there's plenty other ways to do your hair quickly once you learn how.
It is extremely, super, gigantically high maintenance. I wanted to emphasize. I can't wash my hair and not dry it, unless I want to wake up with a woven intertwined hard mess. These girls hair is really gorgeous and looks so healthy and soft. I am almost jealous. Can someone help me by telling me how to get my hair to be like the girls??
Each and every one of these girls looks beautiful, amazing, and regal. I'm all for embracing everyone's natural beauty. :)
