“We Need To Change The Narrative”: Barista Speaks Out After Smashing Man’s Windshield With Hammer

The prices were not just for the coffee and water. The extra amount pays for being able to view a scantily clad woman making the coffee. It was a bikini barista place. I understand why she keeps a hammer with her for protection, but she exposed herself to more danger by leaning out of the window like that. He could have pulled her out when she stuck most of her upper half out of the window. I'm going to hazard a guess that the man wanted a 'little bit' more than just coffee and water for that price, being that he had been a regular customer, and when he didn't get it, he flipped his lid. As for her breaking his window, I think she might have went too far with that, but then I wasn't there. It did make him leave, though.

Aren't there like a thousand places that sell coffee?!? Didn't know the price before he got to the window? Just leave it there, don't pay it and f*****g leave! F*****g moron!

She even stated the prices are listed so unless he doesn't know how to read, this is all his doing and deserved what he got. This guy is a moron.

Why is it important to the story to post pictures of her with her tongue sticking out? Is that how the publicist required it to be printed?

Even if they didn't have the prices on the menu, she would have probably read off the price at the window. But also the story says he got a 32oz coffee and a 24oz water. A 24oz is as big as a starbucks venti, but the water thrown on the video was as big as a small water cup, and the coffee looked like a grande at best. I agree that the price is absolute b******t, however he still should have known it as he ordered his drink. Another commenter said it's a bikini barista place so there's an upcharge, but the video shows her in a tank top? So everything about this is confusing to me. What's not confusing is that dude assaulted and threatened her. Her retaliation was a bit strong for sure but I don't blame her one bit for doing it.

The video shows the man holding what appear to be two cold drinks. When he throws the first one you can clearly see the ice cubes bouncing off the closed window. After he throws the second drink, she opens the window and smashes the windshield with the hammer.

I think everyone is also missing the Fact that he exited his vehicle to try to assault her. Doesn't matter where it was hit or cold coffee or something else. She saw a man exit his vehicle in a drive thru and come at her. Period. Perfectly in her right to defend herself. And all those commenting on her looks and dress code... Judgy much? Just doing the old blame the victim she deserved it? And thats what wrong with this country. By the way wanna talk about how he looks?

She said she knew him from before which suggests he has frequented the establishment prior to the incident. Surely he must have known the prices, but that was a ridiculous amount for a coffee and a cup of water. Maybe it was the latter than was the problem. He probably wasn't expecting the same price for a water as a coffee. It goes without saying that he shouldn't have thrown the drinks at her, but let's not forget she threatened to do that to him first. Why did she have a hammer to hand? She says it's no longer time for women to smile and take it. (Why just women? And I am one) But it sort of does go with costumer service. I'm not saying anyone should put up with abuse, but threatening to throw drinks at customers isn't really the best way to go about resolving anything. I can do without the numerous pouting poses too. "I am so upset about this that I want to show you my tatts and piercings".

What? She already thought of him as a difficult customer but after putting her prices up so that she was charging $22 for a coffee and a water she then served him again? He should not have thrown the drinks at her. He shouldn’t have been given them in the first place if she had an issue with him already and he hadn’t already paid for them. Instead of arguing with him for long enough for other customers to get involved she should have phoned the police straight away. He is a d**k. But she is no better. To state that this is an industry where women are working alone wearing next to nothing is only a description of her own business model. I spent a few years working as a barista. I was fully clothed and there were 4+ of us there constantly. I have never seen a single bikini barista in my life.

She was scared so instead of shutting the window and walking away to call the police, she opened up the window giving him the opportunity to throw the drinks. Then conveniently as she was shaking from fear, she was able to go grab a hammer and strike his car. Man, sounds terrifying. I am a woman and that man was wrong. However, he did not try to kill her or hurt her with a deadly weapon. So using a weapon in retaliation doesn’t really fit the response. It’s also clear based on this girls tattoos that she does not have good judgment. I’m going to guess she has interacted with this man on a personal level before and not just at work.
