Barbie’s Victorian Dollhouse

Being a full time stay at home family caregiver means you often have a lot of time on your hands, especially when the caregiving involves supervision and companionship.During the ten years I spent taking care of an Alzheimers mom on top of raising a non verbal autistic son{now 28}as well as helping out with an Alzheimer brother- in- law I found myself sitting down a lot… I started the dollhouse for my daughter when she was little and it grew exponentially as I had more and more time to devote to it. Ive always been a Victorian maniac and creating this house got out all my frustrations about not being able to spend my life in a fabulous Victorian mansion crammed with priceless antiques.{Dont you hate it when that happens???}

Heres the front parlour. Everything in it was found in flea markets or Goodwills and repurposed or modified by me for the proper Victorian effect. Anyone can do this actually, it just takes imagination. And granted, with three special needs people to care for going to thrift stores and flea markets became a major source of entertainment.
