Cringe is as cringe does. Even though the internet is full of wonderful things like cat pics, wholesome local news, and articles written by yours truly, it’s also home to the vast and spooky wilderness where you’ll find the most bizarre and cringe-worthy posts. And it’s the members of the ‘Cringetopia’ subreddit that bears the heavy burden of documenting the cringiest examples to share (and publicly mock!) with the world. These cringetopians have a duty to show us what to never ever do while at the same time providing us with some hilariously weird content.
We’ve collected some of the best recent posts that will make your face contort, your mind reel, and your lips say, “Oh God, why?! Please, no!” Remember to upvote the cringiest pics that hurt you emotionally (and maybe even physically). Oh, and if you haven’t had enough internet for today, then be sure to check out our previous posts about the ‘Cringetopia’ subreddit right over here: Part 1 and Part 2.
What the 1.3-million-strong ‘Cringetopia’ community teaches us is that cringey posts are more common than we might think. And we’ve all no doubt done embarrassing things that we still remember in the shower or late at night when we should be sleeping. However, ignoring these feelings and running away from them is far from healthy.
Bored Panda had a talk with a couple of the subreddit's moderators to learn more about how the massive community is managed, as well as how to live with the cringey things that we've done in the past (spoiler warning: it's to take responsibility for your mistakes and live life with courage). Scroll down for our interviews with them, as well as for our chat about embarrassment with award-winning social psychologist Vanessa Bohns, the author of the forthcoming book 'You Have More Influence Than You Think.'

It's amazing that people adopt regardless of what race the child is, but I hope that they do instil some of the cultures and traditions that would be seen in a child living in normal household for people of that race/nationality /ethnicity... That's the only concern really!! The person above is a sore loser for complaining about people adopting and giving a better life to kids :')

I know parents who are of different skin colors, and their kids struggle a bit with "whose side they're on", but.... I think the problem is that society expects there to be "sides" in all this. Not just "Hi, I'm a person, and my parents love me". And that saddens me beyond words.

I took a friend's daughter (french+tunisian) to Disneyland and the poor 5yo said to me "i wish i was not an arab!" because she was traumatized by terrorists attacks who happens to be perpertrated by "arabs" and arabs looking people were really stigmatized after it. I had to explain to her that her gorgeous blond curly hair came from the mix and that she should be proud of having 2 cultures, talking 2 languages, that this was a great asset and not a shame at all... A fu...ing 5YO. Indeed the society has a problem, putting such sad things in kids heads, she was in Disneyland and worried about being "half-terrorist" because society teach her "arabs=terrorists".

I know several white people who have adopted nonwhite kids. They are hyper-aware of the potential problems, and belong to all sorts of parenting groups, and make sure their kids grow up known their birth "culture," whether it's Chinese, Black American, or Indian. They were prepared for racism, and while they've gotten crappy comments from white people, it is more often POC who confront them for taking a nonwhite child away from their culture, whitewashing them, and/or claiming this is "just like" residential schools/child abuse/conversion therapy/colonialism. MYOFB.

That's a phenomenally high cost of living. My mortgage is (adj for exchange rate) $1015. Working backwards, a mortgage payment of $4k at current interest rate of 4.6% over 25 years would net you a house worth half a million, nearly 200k more than the average UK house price. Or an average house in London, which skews the statistics in any case and is widely known to be unaffordable to most people.

Thank you! I agree with every word you said. I think if you wanna do your homework, we can trace different clothing, food, hairstyles, ect. back in history, and see that many cultures do/wear/eat things that other cultures do, and everything starts some where; and it's passed down generations, and cross culturally. I think a lot of us would be surprised , at the things we give little to no thought of, actually started outside our "history". With that being said; Any part, of any culture, should absolutely not be used in any manner to blatantly and intentionally insinuate negativity towards, or about that culture. Also, I think out of respectfulness, that if an issue is raised, we should take a moment to consider whether it indeed does have a legitimate and reasonable cause, or, if it is just part of the current trend of over-sensitivity.

My best friend used to work in a massage salon before she became a nurse. I would pick her up in the evening, because she didn't have a car and usually spend about an hour waiting for her to end her shift. My son has a somewhat uncommon name (because literally it was the only name my wife and I could agree on). We recently met someone who has a son with the same name. I thought it was AWESOME! I certainly didn't feel the need to pick a fight with the guy. We thought it was cool and talked about all the different spellings people could use for it.

"Fixing" art is a thing that began on Tumblr I think, where people take a character (usually female) that has pale skin/a thin frame/large breasts/other common/overdone trait or some combination thereof, and they redraw said character as PoC/obese or heavyset/with smaller breasts/with extra body hair/some combination thereof and claim they "fixed" it. Now, there's nothing inherently wrong with redrawing a character and adding or changing traits--the problem is the attitude that comes with it. While it's true we still have a long way to go with diversity in character designs and animation, people who claim to "fix" something act like THEIR design is the superior one and anyone who disagrees is wrong as well as racist/fatphobic/transphobic/sexist/what-have-you, which is completely stupid. You also end up with scenarios like this one described above, with people erasing the artist's identity by "fixing" HER OWN SELF-PORTRAIT and acting all high and mighty about it. It's just plain stupid

I was very close with my uncle. He was an enormous inspiration for me. Recently, he also sadly died because of Corona. It was so gruesome, fast and shocking. It's been a very hard time. Quick word of advice that anyone can choose to take or ignore; I grew up in poverty, was homeless, hungry, etc. I thought I wanted to grow up and make a lot of money. That was my goal. Then as I was going through college and working different jobs I realized that money wasn't my main goal at all, what I really wanted in life was to help others who had grown up like me, I wanted to dedicate my work and skills to my community rather than to helping huge corporations get richer and making sure people like Jeff Bezos could afford multiple homes. I work for a non-profit where we help facilitate research and protect vulnerable subjects. I don't make 6 figures, I turned down a 6 figure position I was offered with a large pharmaceutical company and took 60K job instead and I am so happy I made that choice. I can pay all of my bills and I get a great deal of satisfaction from my work. No amount of money is worth spending the majority of your waking hours doing something you don't believe in.

Ok as an American I completely understand why we support Taiwan. Today Taiwan is a democracy and the first country in Asia to legalize gay marriage. But the Chinese perspective on this is very different. First of all, Taiwan wasn’t a democracy until the 1980s. Up until that point, it had been under martial law for 40 years, and the country was ruled by the Chiang family. Second of all, during the Chinese civil war, the nationalists (who founded Taiwan) brutally slaughtered student activists on numerous occasions, censored the press, and held an iron grip on power without elections. Chiang Kai-shek’s grandson was literally part of the Nazi army when it invaded Poland. He was there, fighting with the Germans, in Poland. Of course China doesn’t like Taiwan, and of course China doesn’t want other countries interfering. The island of Taiwan has been part of China for hundreds of years. Obviously modern Taiwan is a much more fair society than China, but it’s important to know the history.

I replied so people who existed before the creation of vaccines didn't die at a young age? He didn't have a reply for that but kept saying covid was fake and that technology is the reason it was even a problem. This dude was a cringefest.
