I know there is definitely software that can add colour to black and white photos, but it may or may not be the real colours of the photos subject. For example, someone might be able to add colour to your photo and give your great-great-great grandmother a beautiful red dress, but in reality she was wearing a purple dress. I think it is impossible to find out the actual colours of a black and white photo. Best of luck!!

can ask a colorblind person, they can differentiate between the incredibly large grayscale color corresponds to the gradient of each thing

These are very famous photos, you idiot. Their authenticity is not in doubt.

In the first and second pics she is wearing a bathing costume appropriate for the UK at the time. Also look at her hair - it looks like her mother cut it for her. She would have been around the same age as my grandmother in 1913. Looking at my own family's photos, no, they are not too thin for British girls of the day.

I don't think looking overjoyed is a distinctive feature of photos in 1913. I don't believe emo is the term you were looking for. But I do agree that these don't seem overly real, however beautiful they are.

The Shackleton expedition to the South Pole, departing in 1914, had colour film. The colour photos are available if you Google for it.
