You raise a good point. I must admit I'm someone who finds it very hard to push myself forward. It's the fear of rejection. I'd say reach out but that's because I'd want someone to do that for me. I'm over the moon when someone makes contact and makes me feel wanted and cared about - I make sure they know how much I value it though. So at least they know they are wanted!

When my father had a heart attack and ended up in the hospital needing surgery, I went. I literally sat in the room and read a book. He fell asleep with me there and woke up with me there, and he never forgot it. That is all it took. I knew that he'd be ok, absolutely was sure of it. Yet I still went. Meanwhile, I didn't even rate a get well card soon from my job, let alone a visit from friends.

Yes, but when asked, don't say that nothing's wrong when it's obvious that something is wrong. Instead, say, "Yes, something is wrong, but I'm not ready to talk about it." At least you're not misleading your partner, then pulling the rug out from under them later (when you are ready to talk about it).

My hair stylist says she likes when people bring in pictures for reference, but she always tells people she can't guarantee the same look. Because hair is different person to person and can react differently to dye. She also has turned down requests that she knows won't turn out well, or that she doesn't think she had the ability to do. I am from the US, but have lived in the UK for ten years. Most of this is not true here. There are plenty of homeless people. Everyone is not bilingual. There is trash everywhere. The beaches are a mess. Junk food is consumed all the time. It is common to stop at the "chippie" for a snack. Also, chips (large French fries) with many meals where I would never expect. For example, lasagne and chips? That's common. Health care is good if you can get it, but it has become an access nightmare in the time I have been here. It has become difficult to even get an appointment with a doctor. The doctors in my area have switched to scheduling appointments online. But the staff frequently shut down the website, reducing the 24/7 access to about two hours a day. And people die waiting for an ambulance for hours. The ambulance can't get there because it is lined up at the hospital trying to unload the previous patient.

Have a "best friend" just like this. We've been friends for 22 years. Haven't actually seen her in person in 2 years now though and we live in walking distance from one another which is sad really. Makes every excuse under the sun. We even have sons that are months apart in age and i always thought or imagined that they would grow up to be good friends too but again, every excuse has been made in the past 2 years to meet up or even get our boys together to play. An occasional text here and there for the past 2 years... I call her my pen pal now just 😔

I wrote a journal for many years but stopped when as an adult my mum took my journal (not the one I was writing) and read it. She later told family members what I'd written and used it in arguments against me. That was several years ago and I stopped writing the day I found out my trust had been broken. I recently bought a house with my partner and he told me if I wanted to write again he promised me he would never look. So I am back writing every day, my journal ives on my desk and I have no doubt my partner will keep his word. The only time I will move it is when my mother visits!

There's something that I've learnt about people. They, the very most of them, demands you to cope with their shitty, cheap, manipulative, and selfish and offensive actitude. If not. Your punishment is to be alone and with no one to talk or hang. Descent people are segregated just for not allowing someone to harm their dignity and self respect.

Some people don't know how to handle that kind of thing, like what to say or not say to a really sick person. So they stay away. But they could at least send a card and flowers or something. There's lots of advice around about how to behave with a sick person, and the most important thing is just to do *something* to let the person know you're thinking about them!

Possibly the friend has social anxiety. You know, afraid to reach out, might accept an offer to do something but then backs out. I have a friend like this and I'm not sure what to do. I'm nearly always the one to make contact. I notice she gets very nervous sometimes, and she's mentioned being on anxiety meds. One time we got together she said she was feeling very anxious and needed to go home. Last time we got together was last year, and we had a really nice time hanging out at a local coffee shop. When we parted she said, "Let's not make it so long between visits!" I haven't heard from her and am wondering if I should contact her again.

Nail salons seem kind of gross to me. Maybe it's just the ones I've taken my mom to (never had a manicure myself), but all that nail dust floating around, and the dead skin from foot scrubs. I'm not usually squeamish, but eewww! One of her friends got a serious infection from a pedicure and ended up in the hospital. Are salons required to sterilize equipment between customers? Does the Department of Health do inspections on these places? *shudder*

Some of these look like they were brushed either during or after drying. I have wavy/curly hair and that's what it looks like if I brush it. I went to a couple stylists years ago who used a brush to shape my hair during drying, and it always looked bad.

Eh, there doesn't seem to be concrete evidence for this, it's just one possible reason. More probable is that you're a captive audience when you're on the pot, kind of like when you settle on the couch to read a book. Cats know you'll be just sitting there for awhile, so it's a good time to get some undivided attention.

Crows like bread and most leftovers, especially eggs and meat. Put some out in the morning in the same place each day, preferably when they're nearby and can see you. They also like cat and dog food, wet or dry. If you put out dry food or dry bread, it's nice to also put out a pan of water for dunking. Don't leave food out at night unless you want to attract scavengers. If you're lucky, a mating pair of crows will hang out in your area and eventually bring junior around for a snack.
