Firefighters, Puppies And Koalas: Australia’s Hottest Charity Calendar Is Back, And Fans Abroad Can’t Get Enough (30 pics)
For more than three decades, Australian firefighters have posed for a charity calendar, and in recent years they’ve shared the frame with kittens, puppies, horses and koalas. The Australian Firefighters Calendar started in 1993 and has since donated more than $3.5 million to charities in Australia and abroad. The 2027 lineup comes in five editions: Dog, Cat, Horse, Mixed Animal and Hero. It’s also the calendar’s biggest worldwide release so far.
The animals are more than props. Every cat and kitten in the Cat edition is a rescue, and much of the money goes to community groups where the difference is easy to see. Wildcare Inc., which looks after sick, injured and orphaned wildlife in the Northern Territory, had no government funding when the calendar team first got in touch; with their backing, it has grown to 140 carers. Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital runs Matilda, a 22-wheel mobile clinic built after the 2019–2020 bushfires that has since treated thousands of native animals. This year also brings the project’s first partnership with a European sanctuary: L’Arca di Natalia, a volunteer-run refuge at the foot of Mount Etna in Sicily.

Overseas, the crews are greeted like pop stars. At the China International Import Expo in Shanghai, 5,000 people joined a waitlist for just 1,200 copies, and organizers had to stop handing them out over crowd safety concerns. The most popular model isn’t a twenty-something rookie but David Moore, a 56-year-old senior station officer from Geelong, who jokes that the group is “just an old boy band.” Fans may buy the calendar for the photos, but the money pays for vet care, foster homes and rehabilitation for animals that need it.
What a stud! The stallion, I mean. He's such a gorgeous horse, they must use him for stud ;)
Just when I forget how huge wombats can actually be, a séxy shirtless firefighter from Australia picks up a wombat to remind me.
The caption just refers to that as "a small animal" - that is a bettong!
Thought it was Daniel Craig at first. I need better gladses it would seem.
So, y'all know how America is a shíthole and it's only getting worse, and those of us who aren't MAGA cultists sometimes semi-joke about getting tf out of the country? Well, guys, looks like I'll be going to Australia XD
Fair warning: we don't all look like these guys!
