Nimrod Weis, artist of the I Believe Swings and founder of ENESS studio is using the power of swings and their soothing motion, to open our minds and set our sights on the cosmos, the big questions and the positive potential of the future.

The formation of three light-emitting swings are adorned with retro spaceships making a statement about believing in things bigger than ourselves: the cosmic, the inexplicable, the spiritual, the innate power of our inner selves.

Visitors are invited to swing in-between the beams of mysterious UFO radiance where they can pose a question about their place in the universe as they take a seat. As the familiar swinging-motion takes hold, sensors in the structure animate the lights, seeming to beam messages out to the broader universe.

The artist loves a perspective twist on regular objects like swings and encourages all the creatives in his studio to apply this similar design approach.

He has taken the humble swing and invested it with a message that elevates our understanding of this well-known playground equipment. Swings are particularly potent places – we all remember what it felt like as a child to swing on a swing – wishing we could launch ourselves into the sky and fly.

This favourite feeling from childhood has also been scientifically proven to calm the nervous system and the artist is deliberately riffing on this, bringing joy back into the lives of all ages. By then adding some UFOs it’s a recipe for glee.

The ENESS studio team also strives to change people’s expectations about familiar places through temporary artworks in public areas thereby dynamically changing their experience of cities and what they imagine is possible in their daily spaces.
