Denver Based Artist, Detour, has always explored interactive art in his practice. He has been working with the elements of sound and color for the past 8 years. It wasn’t until 4 years ago that Detour started creating work that allowed people to touch, feel, and explore his art in a natural way. This lead to Detour creating studio work and installations that could be accessed by individuals that are blind.
This would eventually come to fruition when Detour invited the Colorado Center for the Blind into his studio at RedLine Contemporary art Center in Denver Colorado. They were able to explore and visualize the art through touch and sounds. The interactive mural featured various colors that were associated with different sounds. based on the sounds, they were able to start building the form of each color.
