The coronavirus has changed our reality almost beyond recognition. The world of art is transforming dramatically. Because of the Travel Ban situation, the only way to hold exhibitions is to do them online and using digital technologies. For those who work with 2d techniques – painters, photographers – it is easier – just a gallery of images on the site. What should sculptors do?
Meet the artist – Korzhov, Valentin Korzhov (yes, exactly, as Bond, James Bond).
Being a renowned artist with exhibitions in the east and west, his work has deep philosophical overtones. His new project – ANIZOTROPIA – born as a reflection of social changes caused by pandemic, consists of sculptures and objects and investigates the matter of space and shape placed in the context of nothingness as a legacy of Heidegger’s metaphysics of form. The very title of the show derives from the idea of the Greeks about the unique, invisible and unpredictable trajectory of the growth of various objects in nature. In fact, this term is widely used in solid-state physics, chemistry and crystallography to define the dependence of characteristics of an object in its anisotropic condition. Likewise, the sculpture made of metal pipes and every-day objects during the creative process takes an intrinsic unpredictable shape, and the final result is always unknown.
To tell the truth, the new online reality is a big challenge and ANIZOTROPIA became a bold international experiment: in collaboration with a young online gallery Art Catch (Netherlands) and the strong 3D visualization experts Cappasity (USA), it will feature 9 sculptures and objects which will be possible to see in a spatial format! The 17 September the ending result will be presented to international viewers – an immersive experience that will be strengthened by the videos of the production process and a public program with the participation of high-rank international art experts, philosophers, journalists, and technological professionals.
Those who are interested to see the result – join us for the ANIZOTROPIA online opening 6 pm (Amsterdam time) — https://www.facebook.com/events/964801757333243.
