You never know what fate will bring to your doorstep. It might bring a box, but inside you won’t find a thing you expected from Amazon, but a wild baby boar. Yes, you read this correctly— a wild baby boar. This actually happened to Dora Ngai, a Chinese vlogger who lives in Sri Lanka with her boyfriend of 4 years and 4 lovely dogs. It happened on September 3rd, 2020, when lockdowns gripped the world. At the time, Dora was boarded up in her house, bored out of her mind, when a wild boar wound up near her house in a box. Dora’s gardener found the box and brought it to her. And the rest is history which will be recounted by none other than Dora Ngai, who pleasantly told it all to Bored Panda. So let’s get to it!

“I’m Dora from China and I’ve been living in Sri Lanka with my boyfriend for almost four years. We have four dogs at the moment. Three of them were rescued from breeders here. We live in a little town called Kandy in the hill country and come across many animals here. Monkeys, wild boars, porcupines, peacocks to name a few.

It was September 3rd, 2020. My gardener found a baby wild boar near my house in the early morning. She was only a few hours old. She had been separated from her mother and was lost and cold. So he brought her in and gave her to us to take care of.”

The gardener found Yezhu in a box. At the time, she was just a few hours old

Yezhu was separated from her mom. Sadly, wild baby boars have a low chance of surviving without them

“The first four weeks were hard and tiring. Because of covid, we were always home so we did have the time to take care of her. We started off feeding her cows milk but after day 3 she got sick and got very weak. I asked around how to take care of wild boars and everyone said it’s not that easy if they are this young, and that they always die without the mother.”

Despite the high chance of mortality, Dora was determined to keep Yezhu alive

“But we still were determined to keep her. We switched to puppy milk replacer and she got better and slowly started recovering. We read online that she would need to be fed every hour, my boyfriend and I took turns sleeping in the living room with her for almost the first four weeks, Feeding her every hour when she wakes up and starts crying. It was really like taking care of a baby for us.”

They took care of her like their own baby

Yezhu (pronounced ye-ju) means wild boar in Chinese

“We kept warm bottles of water by her to keep her warm and made her a little area to sleep in the living room.”

She survived the toughest part, and was ready to get introduced to four dogs

“We were pretty excited to have her but didn’t know how the dogs would react.”

Benjamin and Ginger immediately accepted Yezhu

Biubiu, the Labrador, was hesitant at first, but soon enough, they found a connection

They started eating, sleeping, and playing together, and now they’re best buds

Boars don’t have good eyesight, but it’s even worse for Yezhu as she’s blind in one eye, so she can’t survive in the wild

“Eventually, after she got bigger we made her own little home with a little swimming pool. She loves the water.”

Dora and her boyfriend built a house in the garden with a little pool for her

She’s a happy little boar, Yezhu’s never bored

And Dora Ngai is happy with Yezhu, too

Months passed, and Yezhu’s growing up to be a big boar

Honestly this story seems quite FAKE. Like when celebrities go to charity events with many photographers to let the world know they're good people, in order to trick their followers. In Youtube you can find many videos of people rescuing wild animals struggling and they are very different from this one. Wild boar are not found in a box with a clean blue blanket. This appears very much to have been organized just to take many adorable pictures and video for the benefit of this vlogger.

Have you ever been to sri lanka? Do you not see the huge forest in the backgrounds of those pictures? Would you rather have read a story of her hunting and killing wild boars or what's the point of your comment?

I worry when people adopt wild animals. Tame is not domesticated. Domesticated is at least 20-30 generations of breeding in human-compatible characteristics and breeding out the wild aggression—-and even then you can still see a shadow of it crop up once in a while. Tame, on the other hand, can turn wild at a moment’s notice, and a full grown wild boar is dangerous. Wild needs to stay wild, or at least be in the care of trained professionals who know better than to try and make a pet of a wild animal.

Pigs are very intelligent and wild boars are pigs. They can learn words, they are lovable and they are very protective. You are so lucky to have so much love in your life.

These are so damned cute! Pigs and their relatives, in general, are among the smartest, most compassionate, love-worthy animals. You can't even make up one that's better fit to enjoy a vast variety of surroundings. Only thing I'd wish upon them - they should have the benefit of tasting disgusting. Would make their life expectancy explode.

Everyone should be so accepting to other species to protect and care for them. Plus lots of love which you gave to a homeless baby. You are a beautiful person - thank you for caring.

What about the thousands of pigs and cows and chickens that are killed every day, or the endangered vaquitas that we have killed until there are only ten left, or the adorable rats, mice, guinea pigs, and BABY RABBITS, and monkeys that are tested in labs, with horrible chemicals rubbed on their skin and dropped into their eyes-mind you, the ADORABLE BABY RABBIT gets this treatment- and horrible stuff done to them every day!! But that’s a really cute wild boar. Like AWWW
