My father is a veteran so his insurance is through the VA...worst healthcare on earth. My father is 81lbs and can't breath, his doctor told him to eat fast food. Also, his medications aren't free and he really can't afford them.

Someone should remind the US about the universal declaration of human rights. In this case, specifically, article 25.

As a Canadian, I have never had an issue with our high taxes, as they allow for ALL of us to have access to health care. I wouldn't want to live in a country where only the fortunate can be healthy. I feel sick just reading these stories.

Oh holy money, please help me treat the american people like cattle and deny them even the lowest level of humane treatment and dignity. Please make them work as long as possible for minimum wage while riddled with sickness and injury without suing me. Make them slurp their daily dosage of cornsirup to make them fat dumb and unable to think or defend themselves. Sigh..... I recently got sent to collections after my broken finger cost me just over $400 out of pocket for 2 xrays and a cast.... Then got a bill for $1,120 in the mail a month after the cast came off.... That is with health insurance. I should have just given them a fake name and address and cut the cast off myself 6 weeks later. Of course I have c**p health care due to a c**p job so I have to pay more out of pocket, makes total sense right?

They just changed all the street signs in a 6 square mile radius by my house from green to blue. Glad to see my state taxes are at least being put to good use.

Seriously WTF America! WTF! Post like this just remind us how backwards your country truly is. Sorry to the Americans out there, your lovely people but your county its seriously f****d up. And what is worse, rather than trying to fix it, you are only making it worse.

Only the collective voice of the american people can change this. We all have to hold our elected politicians feet to the fire, abolish the private health insurance industry. GONE!!!!

There is a solution-VOTE. Stop complaining and vote. Vote for Democrats and donate to their campaigns. Nothing can change while we have all 3 branches controlled by the GOP.

And, because it is usually called 'Obamacare' rather than the 'Affordable Care Act' the thin-skinned present occupant of the White House is willing to throw over 20,000,000 off of the system. Ironically, they are mostly his core supporters.

High taxes but healthcare for free. That's how I am facing cancer, 3 surgeries, chemo, radio, continuous exams, and still on therapies.

I keep seeing these stories from the US and I am always shocked that a first world country with enough funds to cover everyone does not have a sensible system, but instead lets pharma companies and insureres exploit people beyond reason. I think it would now be very difficult for any US government willing to do it to implement a public healthcare system to remove these vultures from the system.

One huge irony is that Medicare for All would cost the entire country a whole lot less money than our current system. So why are politicians who gripe about the deficit not doing everything they can to get Medicare for All? The answer is "donors." The primary interest of most politicians is getting reelected. The answer to a lot of our ongoing problems is to get special interest money out of our elections.

Actually only a few weeks ago, my mom's friend's mother was suddenly sick during her visit to America. The hospital tried to kick them out a few times because just cause it wasn't clear about all the documents and health care- when she was literally dying. The hospital told her that there was stuff wrong with her insides but she had to just deal with the pain many times cuz they didn't want to deal with her. The whole time, my mom's friend was recording their conversations. The hospital told them that she should get a surgery done- which was apparently a weird choice at the time. After the surgery, she was hospitalized again. Then a few days later, she passed away...

move to europe and help us rebuild an union with dignity.

Sad.

These people got "screwed" by their irresponsible politicians....Republicans, all, who bent over to health insurers and failed to make the Affordable Care Act work. Thank your president and his lackey minions.

That is so heart breaking. I feel absolutely horrid for him. To lose his life partner, best friend, and then to be struggling with the aftermath of money problems. Why the heck haven't they switched to public healthcare? Thanks to Canada my mom had her cancer treated, she survived, got free counseling etc and didn't have to lose everything they had built.

I am American and have lived in the UK for 23 years. Even though I have full access to the NHS, because I am self employed, I decided to buy private health and life insurance. One of the benefits of this is that should I ever be diagnosed with cancer or other life threatening illness then my mortgage will be paid off, I don't have to worry about losing my home because I'm sick. As for the NHS, well, when I had appendicitis and emergency surgery and 3 days in the high dependency ward of the hospital, I didn't have to worry about anything but getting better. When I left that was it, no worrying about a bill in the mail. Just 'get well soon'! What a relief.

I never appreciated how luck I was when I was younger. Every job I had, had employer paid health insurance. Most also included family coverage, kids especially, at no out of pocket expense to me. Things started to change when Reagan was in office and I don't know why. The healthcare system has gotten worse and worse. Low pay, long hours, miserly benefits, outrageous costs.

I am an American living in Italy. I'm retired and last year was diagnosed with cancer. Their healthcare system paid all my bills for my entire treatment including follow up semi annual tests, scan and medication. Taxes are much higher here but e erroneous is taken care of. I'm so sad for those in the USA who are battling a serious illness and the health-insurance companies. It's not fair.

The health care is bullsh*t. I went to an urgent care cause my tonsils were swollen and I wanted to make sure I didn't have strep and was given antibiotics. I was charged almost $300 for that!! Not even including the cost of the antibiotics and I have full benefits from my work. I'm scared of going to the doctor for actual issues I suffer from cause in the past they don't believe you or try and find the most expensive thing that it might be and charge you.

It hasn't much to do with the military or nasa. It has to do with big pharma buying off both sides of the political parties. Controlled both houses an still could not find politicians with spines to give a c**p. Yes taxes will go up but 37% of this country pays nothing that has to unfortunately change, everyone who works has to pay something into the fed income taxes and not get everything back.

So sit in your bedroom and complain online. OR! Make your stupid Congress FIX IT! It is not some ambiguous "system". It is companies complying with what your post-Obama Congress lets them do, after more responsible requirements have been deleted.. TELL THESE LAZY F**** TO FIX IT! They work for YOU!!! It is NOT about politics...it is about human needs.
