I’m Colin Hurley and I’m painting an art show. I’ve been painting for 25 years, all around the Bay Area, and now I’m doing my first art show reception at the Castro Country Club. I’ve been sober for two years off drugs and intend to keep it that way. I do believe in osmosis in meetings. Being around sober people helps me stay sober. When I truly had a big problem with drugs when I was about 27, I realized I needed to do something to stop my addiction to them. So I put on a lot of weight. I’m now 40 and I’ve three one day slips on this in the past 13 years. Now I feel ready to lose weight and I attend a lot of Overeaters Anonymous meeting and I am losing weight. I’m also a big believer in CMA. When I get back in shape I know I will need this fellowship. Over these past 13 years I’ve been able to accomplish a lot as an artist due to be clear headed and sober. My current project is a TV show about a art bus tour I was part of called “Know Going Back” that is being edited. Painting is what I do. I’ve done it sober, I’ve done it intoxicated. I guess I just love it. I call myself “The Painter of Cats” because I love cats and I respect the crazy art of Thomas Kincade. My instagram is @thepainterofcats
