Here Are 23 Of The Most Beautiful Abandoned Places That I Found Around The World
I'm a French artist, and my name is Dimitri "Jahz Design." I graduated as a graphic designer. I have always been interested in history and architectural remains. It was in 2013 when I developed my interest in the photography of heritage in disuse. My first exploration was an ancient cemetery of military ships.
I travel the globe looking for places in decline. Today, I want to share with you the most beautiful abandoned places around the world.
Also, check out my posts about the most beautiful abandoned castles, Georgian Soviet-era spas, and European abandoned theaters.

Greenhouse, France
I am self-taught, I learned photography alone while trying as much as possible to have my own photographic style. The complete editing of an image is between 30 minutes to 3 hours depending on the retouching. I try to transcribe as much as possible what my eyes saw on the spot.
Abandoned Villa, Portugal
That would be my absolute dream house. Love it...if it were renovated I would love to live in it!
Greenhouse, France
It reminds me of the Crystal Palace from the World's Fair in 1854.
The creation of an image can be very long, I sometimes come back to my work several days later. People like to discover new places, sometimes places that are very close to home and that they did not know. The most interesting part is researching places and not knowing if there is still something interesting there.
Soviet Space Shuttles, Kazakhstan
Buran program shuttle #2, Ptichka. Stored at the Baikonur Cosmodrome is Kazakhstan
Beat me to it, but yeah. Buran. A sad unfinished Soviet dream.
Load More Replies...scrap metal merchants would love to get their hands on all this!
Baikonur is a secure facility, so it's unlikely that would happen. And for some reason metal thieves seem to leave large structures alone.

Such a shame to see something so beautiful fall into disrepair like this... great picture though
I wanted to photograph abandoned places to keep track of all these places before they disappear. I started photography in Nantes, France with an old abandoned orphanage. With that being said, before becoming a photographer I started with drawing, which taught me how to compose a photo.
Villa, Portugal
Military Ship, France
This isn't exactly 'abandoned' It's decommissioned, and awaiting scrapping.
What motivates me the most is the discovery of bigger and bigger places that have never been discovered by photographers. Curiosity is the main thing in my photographic field.
Theater, Italy
I bet this was just gorgeous when new. Why are these beautiful buildings rotting? It breaks me heart.
Buzludzha, Bulgaria
The Monument House of the Bulgarian Communist Party. Completed in 1981. Abandoned when Communism fell in 1990.
Soviet Sanatorium, Georgia
Villa, Italy
Soviet Sanatorium, Georgia
Asylum, Italy
I know looks can be deceiving but this place looks to be in pretty good shape! I wish someone would save it! <3
It looks like all it needs is a thorough cleaning and some fresh wallpaper and paint to be habitable.

you are in Time Out, you monster. now you lie here and think about what you've done.
Looks like he's planking
Theater, Morocco
Castle, France
The handrails, along with the statuary that used to be in the blank areas on the walls have been removed.

Crypt, Portugal
I just googled this one out of curiosity. It's not actually abandoned and is within a well-maintained cemetery, it appears as though photographers call it abandoned to add to the aesthetic. It was built in 1855 around the cholera epidemic and houses the remains of those who could not afford a private burial plot but needed to be interred quickly due to the epidemic.

Airplane, France
This plane is most likely Air France. But, don't fly Spirit.
Load More Replies...Parable, France
I'm pretty sure it's a parabolic antenna, and that "parable" is the French name for it.

One place I really wish I had a chance to visit before they bulldozed it was Fallen Monument Park. When the USSR collapsed they tore down statues left and right. They piled them in a sort of statue scrap yard. It's depicted in the movie Goldeneye. Just miles of broken and shattered statues of Lenin, Stalin, Etc. I've hung out in a few old graveyards, but I've never seen a graveyard for an entire country.
I love them all! Most likely their all haunted though, which makes it cooler! 😁😎
Beautiful shots! Did you get clearance for certain areas? It seems like the Soviet shuttle wouldn't be open to public?
