We Created A Mesmerizing Animated Music Video About Loss And Heartbreak For The Song ‘Lost’
I, along with Kiran Venugopalan (animator based out of India) have worked on an animated music video for The Fortune’s and Julia Nem’s song, ‘Lost’ that has been released on all major streaming platforms (like Spotify, apple music, Jio Saavn, etc.) and the music video has been released on YouTube.
It has been featured in Rolling Stone, Indian Music Diaries, and more such prestigious platforms. This song is about lost love, lost memories, and also about finding yourself after losing yourself to another person after things don’t work out.
The Animated video – The video translates the core essence of the song into a visual format set in a nuanced muted yet alluring color palette. Through the video, we are introduced to the struggles of the female protagonist as she tries to cope with the pain of heartbreak and losing out on a loved one. We are taken on a soulful ride throughout the video, where she is seen reminiscing the times spent with her loved one and her forlorn wishes to go back in time into these frozen heart-warming memories while she’s still processing her heartbreak.
The animation style also captures this with the use of limited animation, by animating it on 2s along with the use of layered textures and translating the hand-drawn aesthetic of the visuals onto the motion form, in-sync with the music.
