After so many years, I can still vividly remember the day when I got my first gaming console NES. It was one of the happiest days of my life! For those who don’t know, NES is an old game console that was released back in 1983 by Nintendo. And now, more than 15 years since its release, London-based artist Aled Lewis created a mash-up of video game characters and photographic scenes.

“As a kid, I would become completely immersed in the crude pixel environments of these vintage video games and they would seem very real! I thought it would be fun to try to express how gamers see these worlds of 8-bit characters. I spent many hours gaming with my siblings and friends when I was growing up and this old video game aesthetic has really come to represent that time,” says the artist.

So, for every Nintendo fan, it will be a big pleasure viewing these images of beloved characters in real life and remembering those careless childhood days spent with vintage games.
