6/12: I Create Watercolor Landscapes With One Theme Within A Year

Hi everyone! I’m Kate, a watercolor painter. Every year I have a challenge for myself in painting 12 landscapes on a specific topic. So this year I chose a very interesting theme: I decided to paint 12 landscapes with not very popular, but beautiful castles and fortresses. The idea is to show other people non-standard locations.

Why do I call it “challenge”? Because for me it’s like a whole project, that I have to complete within a year! You may think that it’s an easy task, but it’s not so.

First of all you have to find and choose non-trivial places in the world. Not every location can be unusual and interesting. Then I think over the season, the time of the day, the light and the point if view (you need to look through dozens of photos to understand how the castle looks like). I combine this viewed visual material and imagine how the castle should look in the conditions I need.
