This isn't the first post we've done about 3D tattoos, and it's unlikely to be the last because the body art is constantly evolving and it looks so damn cool.
Popularized by pioneers such as Jesse Rix and Winston The Whale, these 3D drawings will make you look twice. Some of these tattoo designs look astonishingly real as if there actually is a beautiful butterfly perched delicately on the skin. Others are mind-bending 3D art illusions that contort the body in ways that shouldn't be possible.
So if you're looking for inspiration for your next tattoo ideas, why not consider adding another dimension? Scroll down below to check out this tattoo gallery filled with incredible designs compiled by Bored Panda, , and let us know what you think in the comments!

Would Love To Keep Doing Pieces Like This With The "Old" Tattoos
This one looks just a little TOO real. Makes my shoulder hurt. Awesome work
Finally Got The Tattoo I’ve Always Wanted
I don't think he was trying to match the actual prosthetic he's currently wearing, the technology is moving so fast right now that he's probably had quite a few different iterations over the past few years.
Load More Replies...I think it’s freaking PERFECT! That is the most AWESOME tattoo I’ve ever seen, and I’m a month away from being 63 years old! Nobody in the world deserves this tattoo more than YOU!
I would imagine that’s why he got it. I’ve seen people with tattoos like that, that didn’t tie into their other tattoos. But, this guy nailed it. I would love to be his best friend!

Amazing Cat Tattoo. It's An Awesome Work, It Pops Off The Skin
This would be really cool with the kitty clinging to the scratched leg in the screen door position
Sure it looks good, but why bother when you can have a painting? I don't get it.
If you shared a close & inseparable bond with the cat, I get it bec you always want them with you but idk about a miniature in that pose on my arm. Still cool to look at though
Load More Replies...Would Love To Have This One Too
I would guess over 30 hours, and a few sessions to work on the intensifying of the black parts. Long. very long (I have a sleeve, that took 23 hours)
Load More Replies...Ohhhh! I can feel the pain on his thin skinned collarbone and shoulder joint. I have a hummingbird and the tip of its wing goes over one of my collarbone and I - 35 years and several surgeries later - can still in detail remember how it stung and my sweat poured. 😳
Impressive Realistic Tattoo Filled With 3D Blocks
imagine just walking down the street and seeing this. Prob would do a double take.
Edges on the blocks aren't straight... setting off the ole OCD pretty badly.
Yah ya know maybe cuz it's hard to make lines straight on a human arm but whatever
Load More Replies...Fantastic work! I wonder how long it took for this awesome work, to be complete? Totally awesome!!
Amazing Glass Tattoo
This Optical Illusion Is Perfect As A Tattoo
The symbol for Infinity looks like it does because there's no beginning nor an end. This has many. But it's awesome that you thought of that when you looked at this!
Load More Replies...Whoops, I didn't see your comment before posting mine! Sorry!
Load More Replies...I think theres a good chance your man would get dizzy and throw up like on a carnival ride if he spent too much time "hitting that from the back".. not trying to be crude just no other way to say it... Its well done tho for sure..
Why does the skin around the tattoo area look dirty? Is it just how the photo was taken? Cuz it's significant at the hairline on the neck, and the edges of the dress.
Not An Everyday Thing, But Very Enjoyable
I hope they got/are getting the help they need/ed

Skull I Did 2 Days In A Row
Its REALLY good... but at the risk of also being "too much".. but very well done for sure... !!!
This Piece Symbolize The Strength That Is Needed To Free Yourself From Pain. It Represents The Inner Power Required To Free Our Mind And Truly Let Go
its going to need constant upkeep to maintain the best parts about it.. But I do enjoy this one.. good one..
PLZ people stop quoting avengers! 😥(even Though we know spiderman will live😇)
Cover Up From Today
I dont know that it effects me the way it should for me to say I like it.. But if YOU like it.. I like it for you..
Imagine waking up with his arm under your head cuddling with that eye looking at you .../shudder
Sorry To The People Who Get Creeped Out By This One, But I Like It
Genuine question, does anyone know if these only look right from a certain angle, like when people create 3D art on the street?
I think they’re good from every angle, like a realistic drawing, but some probably have a “best angle” too
Load More Replies...I am not an expert, but I think you may be trypophobic. I discovered that I was trypophobic myself a few years ago.
Load More Replies...Trypophobia is an aversion to the sight of irregular patterns or clusters of small holes or bumps. It is not officially recognized as a mental disorder but may fall under the broad category of specific phobia if fear is involved and the fear is excessive and distressing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trypophobia
EEK! Trypophobia! But this is still amazing work, I love it!
Well... bees are necessary for nature... I have seen more charming images of them though...
thought provoking for sure.. just not sure it best suits a female with nice legs tho.. absolutely nothing wrong with the art work tho.. I enjoy the concept very much..
Realism Tattoo
That's gonna be a very hairy lollipop when the hair's allowed to grow back in.
3D Pink Floyd Piece
And the Jimi Hendrix right below it! <3 Loving this person's taste in music.
This is just another brick in the wall. Try again. Jk this is awesome!
Progress Shot Of This Fun Piece I Started Today
Not to be a downer, but his right nipple looks inverted, sometimes a sign of breast cancer. Men can get breast cancer too. Hope he gets it checked.
You are quite right. An inverted nipple can be a sign of cancer. Let's hope someone told him in time.
Load More Replies...Had 2 male friends die of breast cancer ---- I always remind (while they chuckle) my men friends to check themselves!
I respectfully disagree, the part in the chest looks awesome and layered to me. I would, also, love to see the finished work!
Load More Replies...This One Is So Beautiful
Nah, looks like peeled back layers of skin. Maybe use a different colored flower.
The only issue is how bad Ink holds on knuckles, fingers and other areas that bend a lot. Most of that tattoo is going to be faded to near nothing within a year.
No. It's not beautiful. It looks like diseased skin on the fingers.
The color choice really capitalizes on the existing skin color. I love tattoos that don't have black outlines.
After 2 Sessions Totaling 12 Hours Of Work. The Damper Is Fully Healed. The Background Was Made In The Freehand With No References
taking on a concept like that requires an incredible ammount of detail to the piece... I just dont think your artist is there yet.... I do like the skin layer they do but the mechanical portion is rather lacking.,.plus the shock just sets in there.. it would have looked better had both ends been connected to the joint or next part of the body... just appears to be laying in there.. but I do hop eyou fully enjoy it... thats all that counts
*imitating that one russian actor whose name i cannot spell* Hasta la vista, Baby.
For The One Who Can't Live Without Fishing
This gave me quite a cringe for a brief moment. The simplicity makes it.
That looks like a woman's forearm... What kind of woman can't live without fishing??? 🐟 🎣
Had Fun Doing This Piece Yesterday On And Awesome Client
I guess we have a few from same artist's in this list? Same concept, does look very much like same artist approached this one as well... its interesting for sure...
3D Needle Tattoo
We Spent Close To 8 Hours On The Stencil For This Thing
That's the all seeing eye of God. It's a Masonic symbol.
Load More Replies...I think far more work and time setting there went into this one than it was worth... but I hope you are enjoying it cause thats all that counts in the end..
3D Tattoo
just curious..in what aspect? What stood out to you Chaz83?

Incredibly Beautiful Chest Tattoo
The visual effect is exquisite and it must have required mathematical precision ... a definite conversation starter.
Either she has terrible posture, or the tattoo is really doing its job!
This One's Even Creepy
He is young and working out a lot. What will this look like thirty years and a beer belly later? Will his kids and grandchildren be scared to tears if they ever see him shirtless?
That is extremely disturbing!!! Wonder what kind of person wears a tatt like that
Little Cute Rainbow
Best comment I´ve seen in a while. Made me laugh :)
Load More Replies...Definitely doesn't look like a rainbow, or a piercing imo. Curious about what it's supposed to be.
That's how I feel too... Cool art, but weird on a body
Load More Replies...It's like tattoo central around here! Personally, I don't have any tattoos or any plans to get any. The artistry is interesting, though.
I'm with you Nikki D. Nothing I can think of I would want on me forever. Looking back I shudder at what I may have gotten 20, heck, even 10 years ago. Not for me.
Load More Replies...What is the obsession with death and skulls, etc? To me, it implies a lack of self esteem and a desire to try and look hard. I don't understand why so many people think death is so cool. It's a hell of a cliché, too.
After seeing some of this artistic tatoos, make me wanna get one too. Then I realise they´re forever... Amazing work, brilliant technics. But not for me, yet.
Not all of them are amazing, some of them are actually pretty amateurish. Anyway, like I mentioned on another tattoo post, all the artists responsible need to be credited.
