Street photography is all about catching moments you can’t really plan. A strange coincidence, an unexpected interaction, a perfect play of light and shadow, or simply a person caught at just the right second can turn an ordinary scene into something worth remembering.

As we wait for the final results of the 2026 URBAN Photo Awards, we’re taking a look back at some of the best work from last year’s Street Photography category. The 2025 competition attracted thousands of photographers from around the world, with the selected images offering very different takes on everyday life in the streets. With the 2026 final ranking set to be announced on October 24 at Trieste Photo Days, there’s still plenty to look forward to.

    Facebook --> "Semana Santa is a major Catholic celebration in Spain during the week before Easter, marking the final days of Jesus’s life. Cities hold large street processions where participants carry religious statues and wear traditional robes rooted in centuries-old penitential practices, where hoods were originally used to conceal identity during acts of penance. Though the pointed hoods may resemble those of the K‍u K‍l‍u‍x‍ K‍l‍a‍n to some, the tradition predates the K‍K‍K by hundreds of years and has no connection to racism, remaining strictly tied to Catholic ritual and symbolism."
