This year, Peter McGowan’s son will celebrate Star Wars Day in a rocket-ship. Assembled over more than 12 months from mostly found items and a $250 investment, the Star Wars themed bed is modeled on the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon and an AT-AT leg.

Star Wars Day is celebrated by fans around the world every May 4th. The date is a pun on “May the Force (Fourth) be with you,” and is rumored to have been used first in 1979, when the Conservative Party in the UK printed an ad celebrating Margaret Thatcher’s victory: “May the Fourth Be With You, Maggie. Congratulations.”

Peter McGowan built the bed Millennium Falcon bed and is an architect and designer at Plain Joe Studios. His brother, Edward, took the pictures of the project; oldest brother Mel works at Visioneering Studios.
