When I was in school (circa 2010) I re-illustrated the classic Japanese flower cards Hanafuda. Recently I revisited this project and designed a second more graphic deck.
There are 48 cards, plus a set of jokers. Each suit is 4 cards and represent a month and flower. What’s super cool about these cards is that they can be used to play many different games including; Koi Koi (Japan) Go-Stop (Korea) and Hawaiian Style.
I wanted to give my own aesthetic to the deck, while respecting the symbolism of the cards!
