I’ve Been Hitchhiking And Exploring, Capturing Landscapes Along The Way.
The past three months I’ve been journeying through Western Australia and New Zealand, either hitchhiking or piling friends into a car and taking off, in search of adventure, natural beauty and enthralling experience.
The search for great landscapes is, in my opinion, a truly egalitarian experience. When you are frequenting tourist landmarks, you begin to gain an insight into the categories of tourists that are visiting, from the ultra-wealthy families, the ultra-poor backpackers and all in-between, everyone’s experience is synonymous with one another. They are all gathered in the same place, at the same time, appreciating the same ethereal beauty that draws so many out to discover nature and life. I believe that adventuring and exploring is quite unique, in that sense, and by taking advantage of this I have been spending my time venturing to some of the most incredible places, finding more magic and happiness within them than I can find anywhere else, and doing so on very little money.
I’ve hitchhiked many miles off of people’s good will, I’ve spent many nights sleeping on the sand of secluded beaches, eaten tenuously dull, but essential and cheap foods and always leaned to landmarks, tracks, campsites and the like that are free or very cheap to experience.
I suppose the point of what I am writing about here is that I’ve been asked a few times recently how I am affording to travel around so much, so I’m hoping by sharing a few details about my own experiences, it will encourage someone else to jump in the car on a whim and see where they end up!
