The artist duo Various & Gould just finished their mural ”Face Time” in Berlin. The image on the 350 m² facade is a part of their current and same-titled series ‘Face Time’.
Looking for individuals that do not exist in reality, but certainly could, the artist duo assembles varied facial parts inventing new characters along the lines of an identikit picture catalogue. Playful interaction of different facial expressions and gender, multicolored surfaces and rough dot patterns create vivid characters.
Various & Gould subvert common beauty ideals and celebrate human diversity with their dadaist patchwork identities. And as they put it: „Even if our characters are fictional and bear no name, they feel more realistic and authentic to us than many of these glossy beauty faces represented in the daily media.“
