Hello. My name is Paula Mihalache, I am 24 years old and I am a student (artist) at the University of Art “ George Enescu” Iasi – Romania. All photos are taken by myself (also the ones with me in them) and all post-processing is done by me. With a conceptual approach, I try to touch wide scale of subjects in a multi-layered way.
My photography directly responds to the surrounding environment and uses everyday experiences from the artist as a starting point. Often these are framed instances that would go unnoticed in their original context.
I love to create mixed-media pieces that are both beautiful and disturbing at the same time. Sometimes visual perfection is not enough to be appreciated. Moreover, when it is linked to art, the meaning of “perfection” is not always defined.
The project includes series of performative photographs, representing the artistic concept of “body object” in the idea of the petrification, which returns to the traditional means of artistic- theatrical production “by the performative act itself”.
I’m focusing on human reflection, change, temporality ,vulnerability. In this project I will define the body as an object. The body itself can be read as a reflection of cultural lifestyle… The body is a perpetual source of meaning.
