Woman Finds A Ring In Her Boyfriend’s Nightstand, Posts It To A Ring-Shaming Group

Read any article or book on marriage, and most will tell you that a good marriage isn’t about the wedding, the honeymoon or the diamond rings, but not everyone shares the same values – enter wedding ring shaming groups. This popular embarrassment phenomenon has spread across the internet, where women get to air their ‘grievances’ of not getting the engagement ring they feel they deserve or wanted. Well, recently one woman did just that about her cheap engagement ring (mind you that it is actually not inexpensive at all) but was not met with the response she expected.

The anonymous shamer shared the post on her diamond wedding ring in a shaming group on Facebook, which ended up spreading to Reddit. Instead of finding people to ‘roast’ her boyfriend with for his gold wedding ring choice, she was met with appropriate backlash, doubting that she deserved the marriage proposal in the first place. Scroll down below to read her post and see how people responded.

when I proposed to my wife, I was skint, I bought a ring for £15, but it wasn't the size or the cost of the ring that mattered I just felt that I needed that part of the proposal to do it properly. Spoiler: she said yes. In time I got a pay rise, things improved for me and I went out an bought a more expensive ring to replace the original one. She didn't ask me to, she didn't need me to, I just wanted to do it. couple of years later we got married, and next year is our 10 year wedding anniversary. we don't have much, but in a way, because we love each other, we have everything.

My engagement ring cost £50 coz we were both broke but we've been together for 25 years. This new attitude of ring shaming is truly disgusting. Anyone who does this, and feels this way about something that a loving partner has bought for them, doesn't deserve to be with anyone. They deserve to spend their selfish nasty little lives alone, with a very large, cold, shiny rock to keep them company as they grow old.

I don't think this is a new attitude. We're just at a place, technologically speaking, where there are forums for it. As long as engagement rings have been a thing (and DeBeers dictating how much they should cost) I'm sure there have been girlfriends that get together to trash their engagement rings (or mothers of). It's a s****y attitude for sure, but probably not new.

The depicable attitude notwithstanding, how could you be so dumb to put this on social media? Why not directly print pamphlets with this and hand them out in the neighbourhood...

I believe she probably said something like 'hold my appletini,' immediately prior.

My fiancé proposed to me with his grandmothers ring, whom which had passed away recently. His mother, uncle, aunt and basically everyone else, had approved of him proposing with that ring. He got the ring resized and 2 tiny middle diamonds, out of the 4 tiny diamonds, taken out and replaced with green diamonds because he knows green is my favourite colour. I've never felt so lucky in my life to be presented by such an amazing form of love and I can't wait to marry the love of my life in 2020. Here's a picture of the engagement ring. I'm still trying to wrap my head around $16K-$20K engagement rings. That's a decent new car. That's a down payment on a house, or a year's worth of rent, if that's your thing. It's just SO MANY other things than a hunk of metal on your hand.

Plus the metal/diamonds value combined is never worth the price you pay for it.. (I mean it's not a good investment)

My engagement/wedding ring is a $500, small cute little diamond, that I picked out. My hubby begged me to pick something bigger but I didn't want to. I would have rather spent the money on a vacation. We've been married 8 years now and he still asks me once in awhile if I want a new ring. I always say no.
