This South Korean Woman Is Raising 200 Dogs She Rescued From Being Killed
61-year-old Jung Myoung Sook from South Korea has been saving dogs for the last 26 years. So far, she has rescued over 200 pups and takes care of them all. Sook is not well-off, but she not only takes care of strays, she also buys ill-fated pups meant to be sold to restaurants.
“My babies aren’t hungry,” Sook told the Associated Press. “They can play and live freely here. “Some people talk about me, saying, ‘Why is that beggar-like middle-aged woman smiling all the time,’ said Jung. “But I just focus on feeding my babies. I’m happy and healthy.”
Sook gets help from people fascinated with her loving heart. However, she had to move 7 times due to neighbors’ complaints about noise. In South Korea, dogs are still killed for food. They are mostly eaten by the older generation. Only recently they have become more popular as pets.
“My babies aren’t hungry. They can play and live freely here,” says Sook who is raising over 200 dogs she rescued

Share on Facebooki do support her and i've never had dog meat for my 24years old life as a korean. since thousand years ago, people started to eat it because of poverty which came from devastated land and it became a kind of culture. and as the reporter said its still left nowadays in developed korea in 21C mainly for old gerneration who went through korean war. but let me ask you guys something. don't you feel any sympathy for other animals fot meat? please don't get angry, i just want to know opinion.
I am not Korean, but I wanna ask your same question. Dogs are cute and loyal and all, but so are deers, ducks and other edible animals. So what's all the fuss about dogs? And yes, I am only curious too.
Load More Replies...I still can't believe how some Asian restaurants have dog meat on their menu! Bless this woman for doing what she's doing! Just cannot picture those dogs she's saved on a dinner plate - how revolting!
God bless her soul...Hope many donates to her shelter... Such an awesome person... Saw a documentary on her long time back...
In most Asian country, there isn't have a proper system for stray animals, but there is always a kind people who willing to raise and rescue stray animal. These story happened in Malaysia too. https://www.facebook.com/114544091918888/videos/vl.1002713776418473/1043134605726494/?type=1
What an amazing woman! Long may her good health and good deeds continue!
This good-hearted woman is an inspiration to us all. Not only is she ethical and compassionate, she is brave enough to think for herself and pursue her own path in life. No paint-by-number mentality for her ! Kudos all around.

I wish that more people would do the same for cows, pigs, etc who face the same fate as those pups.
Her action for love of dogs are wonderful and heroic!! But media and SNS to use this story to get people's extream attention are shame!!! This woman said she obtained the dog On the street for lost or abandoned or bought back from people to care. The media are saying she said " RESCUED FROM SOLD TO MEAT MARKET' Is complete "LYE"!!!!! There are no dog meat market in Korea nor dog meat delicacy restaurant in S skorea.
Yeah, you mean "lie" right? Not Lye. Also, there are Dog Meat Markets
