We got in touch with Sasan and spoke to him about his photography. When asked about the moment that inspired him to make wildlife the centerpiece of his work, he told us: “Spending time in nature as a child sparked something in me early on — a deep fascination and respect for wildlife. As I grew older, I also developed a love for photography. The combination of both became my way of capturing the beauty of our planet and sharing it with others to inspire awareness and protection.”

I lived in Uganda and we had weavers in the jacaranda tree. I spent hours in the tree house watching them build and generally go about their lives.

We were also curious to know which elusive or rare bird Sasan has managed to photograph during his career. Here’s what we found out: “I’ve had the privilege of photographing many rare species, but one of my favorite moments still involves a common bird — the African fish eagle. It was the perfect light, the perfect setting, and witnessing its powerful dive to catch a fish was just breathtaking. That moment reminded me that even the more ‘common’ creatures can be incredibly majestic when we truly observe them.”

Next, Amir gave us a behind-the-scenes look at his work and shared some of the techniques he uses to capture animals exhibiting their natural behaviors: “Understanding animal behavior is key. I spend a lot of time simply observing, being patient, and staying hidden. It's about commitment — being there at the right time, sometimes for hours or even days, just for a few seconds of pure magic. My camera gear is essential, of course, but it’s really the preparation and respect for wildlife that make the difference.”

Lastly, we asked Sasan if there are any species still on his bucket list that he dreams of photographing. Here’s what he shared: “Absolutely. The snow leopard, Siberian tiger, polar bear, and the harpy eagle are high on my list. Each of them lives in a remote and challenging environment, and photographing them would be not only a dream but also a deep honor.”
