Remember 'Cursed Images'? Well, believe it or not, the internet can offer the opposite too. And no, I'm not talking about those fake TikToks where influencers "donate" thousands of dollars to a "complete stranger." No, I'm referring to the subreddit r/BlessedImages.

That's a nice response. I used a beautiful poem when my dad passed away. It was about a garden and it's very moving. I still have the text on my pc and just read it again. EDIT: I didn't write this... stole it from internet somewhere ...

On my address, there is a photo of my deceased uncle dressed really nice on his way to a wedding. 👼
These pictures come as a nice break since the pandemic has been cheating us out of all the good times we live for—the weddings, the vacations, the graduations, even the concerts.
"It disrupted a lot of things that naturally make us happy," cognitive scientist Laurie Santos said.
But do we have the right to smile when the world is facing so many difficult challenges?
"We feel guilty because [we think] ... we don't deserve to be happy because there are people who are experiencing trauma or people going through these bad times" Santos explained. "I think that gets to some kind of misconceptions about how happiness works, that it's this like, zero-sum game." But it's not.

I would be dead from depression without my two rescue dogs. They provide unconditional love, much mirth, a reason to take exercise, warmth at night, and enough mess and chaos to remind me to clean the house. They are not narcissistic, needy, argumentative, moody, or judgemental. I live without any other human and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Load More Replies...Please don't judge before you don't know the backstory. Maybe they couldn't find him when they left. We don't know the circumstances.

I remember this story - made me cry a bit! Amazing dog x
Load More Replies...For the those wondering why the dog was left behind, the couple was forced to evacuate, but the dog and one other one refused to get into the car as they were guard dogs.
That’s why you pick them up and put them in the car. That’s a BS excuse!
Load More Replies...Lots of little miracles amid massive devastation. A guy went up looking for his cat about a week after the fires. He was with a tv crew, the cry that he uttered when he saw how devastated his home was, really hit me hard. That cry was followed by another cry when his cat just sauntered up to him like it was an ordinary day.
This was a horrendous incredibly fast moving fire. 83 people did not get out in time. No one I know left their pets on purpose. Many lost pets and loved ones. Odin was a spark of hope for many. These people tried. This was one of the worst days of my life seeing so many friends bereft and devasted they couldn't get their "fur kids" out in time.
Come on, if you were home, you had time to evacuate your pets too. No excuses.
Load More Replies...The devastation from these fires (and all the fires, really) is just so heartbreaking. I am one of the ones saying loudest "I would NEVER leave my animals behind!" but the truth is, we do what we can do with the time we have. I could get most of my animals, I like to think, but there are feral and semi feral cats I could never get in time to evacuate. Lots of dogs were left behind because their humans were working or out at the time of the fire. I read a heartbreaking news story about a man who lost his disabled wife and all his animals because he wasn't home when the fire swept thru. It's really easy to think "I would NEVER" but I don't think most animals were lost because their families didn't love them enough. I can say that here in FL, a lot of hurricane shelters had to start accepting pets, because humans wouldn't leave their animals behind; but we have lots of warning for storms, not like fire.
I'd never leave without them. Simple as that. I have the carriers ready always, within easy grab if something happens. If I need to leave my home, then I don't think about my stuff, I think about my pets. And I won't leave until they're safe too.

I remember this story- it was here on BP, people made fanart of them!
So many people decide to get parrots as pets, forgetting how long their llives can be. After a few years they become bored and rehome them, but parrots become attached to their families and people do not realise the shock of rehoming them to strangers. I have a house full of these unwanted birds, Lucy the half bald macaw is dancing to an advert infront of me at the moment. She had 7 homes in 1 year, she is with me for life.
Thank you. Birdies have the best little personalities. They need as much love and devotion as any other pet. It's been more than 20 years now but I still miss my birdies and often dream of them. :)

"Social scientists tend to find happiness in kind of two parts. So they tend to think of happiness as being happy in your life, and being happy with your life. So being happy in your life is having these moments of joy. Whether that's chatting with the barista at the coffee shop, paying attention to the beautiful fall leaves outside," Santos said.
"It's just these moments of true joy, positive emotion in your life. That's not to say that there's no negative emotion. It's just that if you have negative emotion, you want it kind of balanced with these moments of positivity. That's kind of being happy in your life."

It's something like this that should break the Internet! Good doggos
The other dog sulked all day until her owners gave in and bought an identical toy
I fell in love with dogs just after I was born, my life has been enhanced and enlightened by them. I love them loads, I can not afford to keep one now, so I train dogs for others for free. I can not stand the idea of a dog being put down or abandoned just because an owner does not know or understand how to communicate with their pet *actually I’m training the owners, don’t tell.
pitbulls are Def one of the best breeds! they are so cute and love kids and just want to play
But the scientist highlighted there's also the sense that happiness is about being happy with your life. Basically, it's the sense of meaning we have. It's the answer to the ultimate question: 'All things considered, how satisfied am I with my life right now?"
"It's worth noting that those two forms of happiness can dissociate," Santos said. "One of my deans had a baby recently, and I often use the example of her. Because I think in her life she's so happy, this new meaning that she has with this new bundle of joy. But with her life there's poopy diapers and less sleep and things like that, right?"
Santos thinks we all know someone who has the opposite dissociation, where they have all the worldly comforts possible in their life but are actually feeling really empty inside. So the trick of getting by is basically finding a way to bump up the both of these. Because if we do, we could be actually living a pretty happy life.
Blessed Guinea Pig
My neighbor from a few house away had a rabbit that would do this...the mistake I made was one day I was heading out so when he showed up, I put him in the car and dropped him home...after that he would hop to the house and sit by the car waiting until I took him home.
Now I'm concerned that they let their guinea pig wander outdoors. Isnt it a prey animal?
Can someone make a movie about this Guinea pig and its little adventures??
They are just the sweetest little critters. I had one that lived 6 years. She loved her alfalfa blocks, and used to squeak a certain way to warn me if she had to go so she wouldn't pee on me lol miss her
When my stepdaughter would rustle around in the fridge getting veggies, her little guy would get all excited and make the cutest squeaky chirps. I never knew Guinea pigs were so aware of their surroundings.

This program also provides employment assistance, counseling, and social programs for the vets
Load More Replies...I saw that Arnold Schwarzenegger recently did that here in the US. Not a fan of his in general, but what a great thing to do!
In 1995 I was a Police Officer in North Carolina. At that time an extra squad would be working doing lots of ridiculous assignments. One day we were assigned to some tiny houses which had been built for the homeless. We planted flowers in front of the house that day. This did not work as the insides of these home were destroyed. Holes were punched in walls, toilets smashed. The people assigned to the homes urinated, defecated and to sum it up, trashed the homes.
I know that is frustrating. It makes it seem like they are ungrateful; and, maybe some of them are. But they have issues. My husband is a combat veteran (three tours), and he would often have flashbacks, and hallucinations. He put a few holes in our walls, broke a door, and threw a coffee table across the house once. He was not abusive, and it was not directed at me (he wasn't even aware that I was there during those episodes). It took a combination of medication, therapy, and time to get him straightened out. The most common (and frustrating) issue that I've run into working with veterans is the way they self-destruct. They can be on the path to self improvement one minute, and the next minute they f*ck it up in the most colossal way imaginable. This causes most people to abandon them; which I understand. Most people just can't deal with it. Since We've been through that, We've been helping other veterans who are in the same self-destructive cycle.
Load More Replies...We now have two tiny home villages, one in Calgary and one in Edmonton. There are plans to build them in every major city across Canada.
And they aren't just places to sleep. There are social programs, employment assistance, and counseling services available for the veterans as well.

Load More Replies..."We are not supposed to be purely happy right now. It would be a non-normative situation where your social connections are getting messed up," Santos said. "Your routines are getting messed up. Literally, people are dying. And to just be perfectly happy-go-lucky and not experience any negative emotion, that would be non-normative. It is the right thing to do right now to have your happiness be affected, to experience some negative emotions. The key, though, is kind of how you take care of yourself in the midst of that."
Ask yourself, do you beat yourself up over having these emotions and run away from them or do you find ways to allow them?
"This idea that, well, I'm not supposed to be happy ... it's for someone else, I'm doing something wrong. No, no, no, we're supposed to experience negative emotion, especially if you're in a situation of unemployment, or losing your job or something like that."
Blessed Owl
Who would have ever imagined an owl hugging someone! It seems most people don’t understand that all animals have thoughts, feelings, and intellect, and I’m over the moon every time I see something like this!
Because it's not hugging: https://darklightheart.tumblr.com/post/189370151906/when-gigi-the-horned-owl-sustained-a-near-fatal/amp
Load More Replies...I'm concerned for that owl! I don't think he's being affectionate; I think he's disoriented. Someone should look into this.
My thoughts exactly. Unusual behavior directly following an accident is not a really good thing. I do have family that work in vet med though and this type of thing isn't unusual. I wouldn't be worried about it but it isn't a hug. Still a sweet photo of an owl with their rescuer though.
Load More Replies...I will probably get down voted for this but stop anthropomorphizing animals! This isn't hugging.
Yeah, not sure how I feel about calling this hugging. The owl is probably just comfortable with the guy and leans on him because warmth and safety. Reminds me of reptiles "cuddling" humans, it's just a warm spot, simple as that.

Load More Replies...Santos thinks we sometimes forget that we're not necessarily supposed to be happy all the time. In fact, every now and then negative emotions are important. They can be useful. "The analogy I often use with my students is with physical pain. If you stick your hand on a hot oven, that's going to be painful. That feeling is telling you you need to do something. It's telling you you need to pull your hand away ... I think the sadness, the frustration, the anxiety we're all experiencing, it's telling you you have certain needs that aren't being met in the context of the pandemic."
But that doesn't mean that we must suffer all the time. That would just be pointless. So I hope this list and all of the blessed images in it will serve as a reminder that there's nothing wrong with feeling good.

Omg, that bear is the cutest thing i´ve evr seen! (Look at his/hers ears. LOOK AT THEM!)
So i have a question! the tree comes with the scale??? That's so funny and adorable
No. Its just like weighing anything in a container. So an example would be if you want to weigh water, you put the bowl on first and then tare (zero out) the scale. Then when you weigh the water, the wight of the bowl is already subtracted. Im sure they made this adaptation to this scale and just make sure it says 0.00 before they add the Koala
Load More Replies...During the Australia wildfires I contributed what I could afford to help the staff on Kangaroo Island rescue and care for koalas with severe burns, babies who had lost their mothers, and so many other animals and reptiles, that aside from koalas are found nowhere else in the world. All they asked for on Go Fund Me was enough money to set up water stations around the areas affected. They ended up receiving over $2 mill. With that, they built a beautiful hospital, set up a progressive program for further recovery and release. One of the staff, Dana👍 kept those of us who donated apprised of what was being done with the money, commentary and pictures. One picture she sent was of a baby koala being weighed like this, looking into the camera. I have it on my phone and when I need a smile, I look at it.

I cannot stop laughing at "unattended cracker". And a polite little lady.
The drool makes it even cuter. Now there's a sentence I never thought I'd write
I had a cat (calico) whose treat of choice was Cheeze Itz (sp?) crackers. An "unattended" box was fair game and she would open it and pull out the crackers and happily munch.
I had a guy who loved cheese crackers, especially goldfish. He'd chew little holes in the bottom of the bag to get the goldfish, so I had to start putting them in jars as soon as I got them home. (Don't worry, Robert still got goldfish, just not an unlimited supply)
