For lots cooking is an important part of our lives but in the kitchen many things can go wrong

I was making turkey burgers, and the mix was too viscous. Bread crumbs didn’t help. It was more like a batter. Rather than toss it, I pondered “will it waffle?” It did! I added a variety of savory dips, and it was a hit! This fail turned into a win that I’ve repeated on purpose several times since.

My parents got divorced when I was in Jr. High. Father said oldest girl had to do the cooking, cleaning etc. I was oldest girl. Made a turkey for thanksgiving. I was taking it out of the oven when it slipped and skidded across the floor. My father, who was not the warm fuzzy type, saw what happened, picked the turkey up, rinsed it off, put it on the serving plate and took it out to the table as if nothing had happened.

I was cooking pasta and I didn’t cook it long enough and it was okay but it was kinda crunchy, the second time I made pasta was a success, it was soft and delicious with Alfredo sauce and Parmesan cheese on top. Surprisingly I’m actually great at cooking tortellini, it’s my favourite type of pasta.

Lead-in to my baking fail was that growing up, my mom never liked to keep things in the original packaging. We had SO. MANY. CONTAINERS with little labels to write what was stored inside. We also generally bought things in bulk. Sometimes the labels weren’t changed when something new was put in a container. Christmas time comes around and I’m planning to make some delicious sugar cookies from scratch for a Christmas party. When I tell you the salt looked justtttt like sugar (and put in the container labeled sugar!)…
Luckily I tried one before taking the whole tray with me, otherwise it would’ve been an even bigger disaster! I ended up running by the store and grabbing some there instead.
