Guest Shocked To Receive Charge For Additional Slice Of Wedding Cake The Newlyweds Saw Them Take Via CCTV

In a bid to find out more about the incident, Bored Panda reached out to the guest of this infamous wedding and the author of this post that they shared on r/WeddingShaming. It turns out, the Redditor first heard that the newlyweds were charging for the cake on the day of the wedding.

“I had a couple of beers by this point so didn’t think much of it. Some of the guests were really disappointed by it, though, one actually said that the cake wasn’t worth what they were charging and asked for an invoice from the cake makers to see if they were actually making a profit from it,” they told us and added: “Turns out they can’t find the receipt!” Moreover, there was a guest who refused to eat the cake knowing they’d be charged.

“When I received the message I called them straight away, because me and the groom are close,” the author of this post explained. “It was easier to talk to him about it. He’s quite wily, though, and manipulated me into making me pay for the cake while I was on the phone.”

When asked what could be the reason for such an unusual approach to the wedding, the Redditor said that the newlyweds “are really tight, but weirdly charismatic.”

They continued: “I’ve often found myself questioning why I am bending over backwards for them. A few years back me and my partner looked after their dogs and they said we could stay at theirs while we did and use their car, etc. When they returned I got a Revolut request from the groom for 13 GBP and change for the petrol we used to take their dogs out while they were on holiday.”

However, “I didn’t get too much into it as 13 wasn’t worth the friendship, but it’s nice to know this happened on a larger scale and I’m not the only one that thinks it’s nuts,” they explained.

“To be honest, I’m a little shocked by this info,” Aurelie said referring to this incident. “I personally never had such an experience and I’m happy about it.”

“If I ever receive such a request in the future, I will definitely advise my clients not to do so. It will probably look tacky and this is usually not what our couples want their guests to remember from their wedding!”

Moreover, Aurelie concluded that it’s “Better not to have a wedding cake than charge your guests for it!”
