Wife Decides To Throw A Vasectomy Party To Celebrate Her Husband’s Selfless Act, And It’s Hilarious

For many guys the thought of having a vasectomy is just horrifying. Who wants somebody poking around down there with sharp objects? Just the word ‘snip’ is enough to make you shudder.

That’s why Washington State mom Kimberly Hemperly was both proud and grateful to her husband Jason for making the decision to have a vasectomy. “I really just wanted to show my support and appreciation to my husband for doing what he did, because not many men offer to go under the knife, “ she told Bored Panda. “The procedure is much harder for the woman, and since I’ve had 2 C-sections with rough recoveries, he ‘took one for the team.’ It’s pretty cool of him to do something like this for me.”

In order to show her appreciation for this chivalrous act she did exactly what any grateful partner with an amazing sense of humour would do: throw a genital-themed party. From meatballs and sausages, to seeds and extra tender beef jerky, the pun potential of the situation was gloriously realised, with the custom made T-shirts for Jason and the kids a nice added touch.

“My husband was surprised by the party. He didn’t know I was planning anything until he got home from work Sunday. He thought it was thoughtful, caring and of course hilarious,” She told us.

Her small but hilarious gesture has resonated with many people, her post has gone viral with 50k shares so far. Perhaps it will inspire a few guys to do likewise and bite the bullet – a short, non-invasive procedure that takes only a few days recovery isn’t much to ask in comparison to, for example, many years of hormone-altering birth control pills.

Jason has since undergone surgery and seems to be doing just fine. Kimberly told Bored Panda: “He only just had the procedure today, so he’s still in the beginning stages of recovery. So far the frozen pea hands are working out perfect!”

“He was nervous about it and he’s in some pain, but says it’s not really that big of a deal. Although that could be the pain meds talking!”

Kimberly and her family certainly weren’t expecting such a response to her post, but seem to taking the attention in their stride. “Our daughter doesn’t really understand what’s going on, I’m sure this will make for a great story when they’re both older,” She said. “Since the post went viral I’d say the majority of the feedback has been positive. A lot of people found the humour in the story, which is why I shared it to begin with.”

This is a husband & wife who have humor as a part of their lives . It enriches life & helps you get through both the bumps & the tough times of living. I had prior to husband's passing, &, I miss it dearly.

I think it's great. Having major abdominal surgery was a huge sacrifice for their family. Her using birth control for the next 20 years could be difficult. A vasectomy hardly compares, health-wise. It's great to normalize the procedure so it's less stigmatized for other men.

I know a handful of families that had surprise kid 10-15 years after the youngest. It's a great way to prevent that kind of thing and very considerate of the husband. Female sterilization is much more invasive.

You should watch the YouTube show "Good Mythical Morning". The hosts, Rhett & Link, are two life-long best friends and they filmed themselves having BROsectomies - they had them at the same time, in the same room, one after the other. It's pretty amazing. They mentioned it when they were on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8f_aHL1ALI

I think this post is stupid. Would the husband throw a tube tie party? And by the way she could have had her tubes tied very easily when she had her cesarean .

"non-invasive procedure" !! Seriously, where are they doing vasectomies without cutting into the body, or is somebody redefining surgery?

It's minimally invasive. Compare to a female sterilization where they cut into the abdomen, have to shove the muscles & other organs aside to access to uterus, ovaries, and fallopian tubes. Or you can do the newer procedure where they stuck a camera and surgical equipment in through your vagina, though your cervix, into your uterus, and place little springs in each fallopian tube. But you have to wait 3 months for tissue to grow around it, and possible get another procedure to make sure it works. So, in comparison, the female procedure is much more invasive of the whole body. The vasectomy procedure required a tiny incision near the testicles, then the snip or blockage of the vans deference, then it's closed back up. So yes, it's considered a non-invasive surgery.

This post is special because women go for hysterectomy procedures surprisingly often. And, yes, as a mean of birth control too. It's just not advertised on viral sites, but if you go searching for serious women health discussions on various forums, you'll see it's kinda normal already.

A selfless act? ...selfless is having kids because you are giving yourself to your children. Having a vasectomy releases that added stress, financial concerns, pregnant anxiety, etc.

Procreation is anything but selfless. The person most affected is the one being brought into existence. That decision will affect their entire existence for the entirety of their existence. Yet it's done without their consent, and before they exist, it can never be done for them. Choosing to procreate is always done for someone else, be it the parents, grandparents, society. It's either for a perceived benefit of the parents themselves (such as learning compassion and self sacrifice by creating needs and then filling them, instead of helping fill needs of people that already exist and don't have a home), or to get rid of pressure by family/society to have kids. Just because becoming a parent may cause them suffering does not make it a selfless act.

Why? Are you implying that women only have sex to make babies? If that were the case, he'd be running around with 12 kids to look after. I think he'd rather have knitting and going on awesome trips with his wife when the kids are old enough that they can just leave them at home
