Now that our vacation plans have fallen through because of the coronavirus pandemic, some of us are a bit sad. However, we have something that might just cheer you (and us) up! Bored Panda has created a list of the most unsuccessful travel pics that show that even the best-planned vacations can end up as fails.
Scroll down, upvote your faves, and let us know in the comments where you planned to travel this year before the coronavirus outbreak. Check out part 1 of our vacation fail photos right here.
Traveling and going on holiday during the pandemic is inadvisable because you risk catching and spreading the virus. So it’s fine daydreaming about your holidays, but you should postpone them until we’ve overcome this health crisis. Fortunately, some airlines like British Airways, EasyJet, and Virgin Atlantic are letting passengers rebook flights for free.

My First Time Visiting The Grand Canyon And This Happened
This is an awesome shot. You have gotten something rare that most people will never see
After my time as a park ranger scolding tourists, this is a STUPID shot. Get some brains, get off the rocks!
If people want to risk their necks, why should you interfere?
Load More Replies...After my time as a park ranger lecturing tourists, this is a VERY dangerous shot and should not be attempted by ANYONE. Get some brains, stupid can cost you!
I don't think you need to have done time as a park ranger to realize that :)
Load More Replies...I think it is a great photo. The person on the top of that rock makes me a bit nervous though.
This is a fantastic shot. I'd be thrilled to have that for myself.
Happened to me too! Went back the next day and watched an epic scene as the clouds lifted and exposed the canyon. I cried in awe!
My Moms First Time Visiting Paris
Poor woman, what an awful thing to witness. And that's a lot coming from me, I'm an atheist!
Actually, to be able to say that you were there while it burned is a travel story few can top.
Woke Up At 2.30am To Make A 2 Hour Drive Up 10000 Feet To See The Sunrise Atop Haleakala. Have You Ever Seen Such Beauty?
I waited for that to load for too long before I scrolled down and saw the rocks XD
I'm from Hawaii, Oahu to be honest. Haleakala is a spiritual place for Hawaiian people. Even I feel something special when I would visit (I am part Hawaiian/ Chinese/). It has nene geese and silver sword (native) plants that make Haleakala a very special and beautiful place. Thank you for showing me my home that I miss very much!!
This happened the first time I went to Mount St Helens. I asked the Ranger where the mountain was. He pointed "over there" to a wall of fog. I went back...several time!
Bored Panda contacted online travel agency Expedia UK to get some insight into how the coronavirus is affecting the travel industry. "At Expedia, we believe in the power of travel: to create joy, to bring people together, to enrich our hearts and minds. The entire travel industry is experiencing an unprecedented increase in service requests from customers due to the overwhelming impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19)."
"We're really sorry for such long wait times due to the increase in call volumes. Every Expedia team member who can help is working to add more capacity, self-service options, and collaborating with many thousands of our global travel partners. Most importantly, we are focused on customers with travel in the next 72 hours," the Expedia representative told us.
120 Mile Solo Hike. Asked An Elderly Passerby To Take A Photo For Me
I checked it right away but he struggled enough with the touch screen that I didn't ask him to take another. I think I was walking toward him to help him with the camera and CLICK. Too late. He was such a nice old man as well. He put so much effort in to trying to work that touch screen. Bless.
Like the old days when part of the fun was finding out how pics turned out 😁
Load More Replies...Reminds me of a taxi customer I had. A man in his 70's came out of the hospital with his leg in a cast and loaded down with hiking equipment. The poor guy had hiked the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine, 2,200 miles, alone. He made it as far as New York where the trail runs through my county, Rockland. He had fallen and broke his leg with about 3/4 of the hike done. All Summer long. No breaks except for supplies. That ended the whole trek right there. I felt so bad for him...
Aw they tried lol. Hopefully the memory of this moment is captured by this off centre photo ^-^
A Friend Of Mine Traveled To Italy And Managed To Take A Picture Of The Leaning Tower Of Pisa That Doesn’t Show It Leaning
But you got the photo that nobody else has: the building next door is leaning!
You know, with all the dang focus on that Tower, I didn't realize there was another building next to it. That's a nice building.
Cathedral is well worth a visit -- and there's a great circular baptistery next door as well. Tower is kind of meh IMO :-)

Load More Replies...You are the person dressed in black, walking down the stairs, right? So he just wanted to hide that random person in the blue jumper standing there and staring at him. What's wrong with that? 😁
I have questions... like, you had to hike up there, correct? Why exactly are you dressed for a bad work function? Sweater... loafers... :/
Photography advice to everyone wanting pictures of themselves in other locales. Regardless of whether you use a cell phone or a digital camera, learn to use the camera timer to take pictures of yourself. Don't depend on other people.
I would absolutely love to go to Machu Picchu one day, it looks stunning.
and that is why blair waldorf ALWAYS takes at least 50 selfies before moving on 😂

Still a cool picture, however. And I'm sure you witnessed amazing things on your journey.
Experienced the same - you only should have waited. It was very very magical to see it show up out of the mist. Great to see ypur foto here.
Hard-To-Obtain Permits For A 10 Mile Hike To See Havasupai Falls
If you visit the falls during flooding, monsoon season and soon after a big downpour the falls will look like the second pic. It’s all about getting the timing right to see the beautiful blues and greens.
You went to Chocolate Springs by mistake. Happens to the best of us.
I have multiple friends who went on this hike, it is truly this blue and beautiful! It's a shame the timing didn't end up right for this person
Meanwhile, some hotels in areas under quarantine are offering customers refunds or the possibility of rebooking their stay for a safe time in the future. Depending on your travel insurer, they might be able to cover various costs like hotel rooms and car hire, but this depends a lot on each company and your particular situation.
“People should keep all their travel invoices and receipts to help the claims process go smoothly,” Laura Dawson from the Association of British Insurers told the BBC.
The Day I Visited The Great Wall Of China
Aside from the destination, his smile is wonderful! He genuinely looks so happy!
To be fair, that's what it looks like about 50% of the time. I lived in China for a few years and went to the Great Wall a few times. I think I only got good views once (which happened to be when my mom came to visit, so at least there was that).
Typical air quality. Went there about 10 times, Beijing province China almost never has clear air.

Go To The Golden Gate Bridge They Said. Get There Early They Said
This photo is still really cool. And I bet you had some delicious sourdough bread that day. Win!
Christ, you’re annoying. Putting a positive spin on everything. I could vomit.
Load More Replies...They weren't native San Franciscans. It's almost always foggy until 10 or 11am. Then it clears up until 3:30 or 4:00, when it gets really windy and the fog comes back in.
Early is bad advice. You want to go when the fog burns off around noon maybe.
Unfortunately, not all airline companies are the same when it comes to treating their customers well. For example, Ryanair has been accused of “ripping off passengers” when it became apparent it was charging 80 pounds more for some individuals to rebook canceled flights.
While Wizz Air was still charging passengers to rebook flights to Bulgaria and Hungary even though both countries closed their borders.
Ryanair has already grounded most of its flights and said it doesn’t expect to operate any of them in April or May. But in a surprise twist, the company will allow governments to use its airplanes for rescue and other flights. Ryanair told people not to call their customer support hotlines because they have less staff available to deal with the fallout.
Hopefully, everyone can get the refunds they deserve and we can all go on holiday when the coronavirus outbreak is suppressed. Let’s just hope our vacations then won’t be fails!
My Friend Is On Vacation In Hawaii, And She Asked This Man To Take A Picture Of Her. He Told Her, “I Got A Close Up.” Bless This Man
Wow, the trees bark looks like it’s been painted, all the different greens and browns. It looks great.
You're right, Heaven. They're rainbow eucalyptus trees. They smell nice too. :D
Load More Replies...Are you in Kahakapao? It's just up the street from us and it's always cool and rainy here. It's glorious.
The bark is not painted. It's a species of tree whose bark is several different colors depending on the nutrients in the soil.
I Was In New York For The First Time In My Life
My wife and I spent almost 10 hours on a plane, crossed the Atlantic Ocean and flew 7,500 kilometres. We climbed the top of the rock to enjoy a view of Central Park. We had only one day in New York and this view will always be with us.
I visited the Hancock tower in Chicago one day. A local told a friend that just before we enter, we should look up to see if the top was clear or in a cloud :-D would never thought of that :-D
Happened to me. This is what was called the Sears Tower, right? The top quarter of it was in a bloody cloud, for g-d's sake... so we didn't go in.
Load More Replies...Why would someone pay money to go up to an observation deck on a foggy day like that? Did the clouds move in while they were taking the elevator up?
Maybe they bought the passes online before hand as sometimes it's cheaper

What a shame, that is such an exciting view! I'm sure there are interactive panoramas on the web somewhere...
Rented A Car And Took A 2-Hour Drive Outside Of Berlin To See Die Rakotzbrücke
Just to discover the water was drained and the whole area is under construction.
It was built in 1860. Because of being so accurate, when there is water the bridge and the reflection create a perfect circle. This is somewhere I would love to visit one day.

Hiked One Of Norway's Most Beautiful Trails For 3.5 Hours Through The Rain To Be Rewarded With This Stunning View
Anybody else feel nervous just looking at someone standing on WET & SLIPPERY rock over a canyon? Yikes.
Definitely. Even if it wasn’t wet or slippery I would still feel nervous. In many ways I am not afraid of heights as long as there is some sort of railing or I am attached to something. But with absolutely nothing stopping/preventing you from falling then Nuh uh, not for me.
Load More Replies...if you were hiking thru the rain why would you expect to get a good picture/view?
Would people kindly stop climbing around on rocks that are covered with mist and promises of death, thank you.
As much as I'd love to visit Norway as my grandparents came from there. I've seen many pictures of this rock and you couldn't get me anywhere near it let alone walk on it even if I can't see the view that's a LONG WAY DOWN!!

Visited St. Louis For The First Time And Was Told I Had To See The Famous Gateway Arch
Is it just me or do many of these famous spots still seem really cool even with the fog?
Yes, they seem so much cooler, so surreal! I do love these pictures where there is at least still a hint of the scenery they were supposed to show. And I like that it shows that life is more facetted than always getting just the one cookie-cutter like everyone else.
Load More Replies...I went there a couple times, still worth going up because the elevators are so cool! (If you didn't know, you can take an elevator up to the top of the Arch where there are little windows you can look out of, like in the Washington Monument. You can feel it swaying in the wind!)
Maybe it's Cthu.. Oh never mind it's just Shub-Niggurath.
Load More Replies...This was before Anna and did the beautiful remake. 10 Years Ago I Climbed The Volcano Of Bali "Mount Agung" 4 Am In The Morning To See The Beautiful Sunrise
It was the very end of a 9 months backpacking trip, and I skipped an important and beautiful scuba diving lesson to do it. I had to get up at 3 am for the drive to reach the base of the volcano. My best friend and only travel companion at the time was too lazy to join me, leaving me alone with a Balinese guide that knew not a word of English.
We reached the end of the road at around halfway up the volcano with ~1½ hours left of steep hiking on wet rugged rocks.
In silence, the monolingual guide and I accented, and the higher we went, the more I realised how grossly I had underestimated the freezing temperatures at the top of the volcano - Not wearing any jacket at all.
We finally reached the top 15 minutes before the sunrise, inside a dense and moist cloud, giving us with a visibility of 5-10 meters (16-32 feet) and our cloth and skin utterly soaked.
Sounds like that day sucked hardcore, and yet you got an amazing story out of it. Funny how the misery of a day usually fades pretty quickly but the story remains awesome!
You look absolutely miserable! (But still nice looking.) Now you can share this and laugh.
Only the fact that he sacrificed it to make this disappointing trek.

You keep saying that. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Load More Replies...Irish person here best time to visit anything outdoors in Ireland is the summer and even then its not guaranteed, great place to see👍
Do you know why is Irish whiskey best in the world? Imagine that your nation is living for 2000 years somewhere, where you have every year 200 days of rain, 50 days of snow and 100 days of fog. You would learn to make a good booze by now too.
50 days of snow and 100 days of fog?! They're in areas that get the most snow and fog. Other parts of Ireland might get a couple of days of snow and maybe less than 20 days of fog a year
Load More Replies...I put a bet on a horse in the Melbourne Cup called the Cliffs of Moher, just as disappointing!
You don't want to go walking up to the edge of those cliffs, they're crumbling constantly.
You could come over to Co. Wexford and visit our nice sunny beaches instead!
OH NO! They are pretty stunning, try it again one day! Or go to the Aran islands, than you will have more cliffs to choose from! Which in Ireland, options are always good.
Yes. There are so many amazing cliffs in Ireland

You didn't miss much. Saw the faces from about here, and the gift shop. Wasn't much else to see.
4 Years Ago. Grand Canyon Fog
Why don't these people check the weather reports? And surely some of them had enough time to wait a couple of hours for the fog to burn off, assuming it was just morning fog.
Because sometimes you’re on a tour and you don’t get a do over because the weather sucked.
Load More Replies...You definitely have to visit during certain months and specifically for this reason ..
The guides all tell you not to visit the canyon between November and March. This is what you get a majority of days. Been there several times, both sides never seen fog. Always go in June-Sept.
