109 Times Product Packaging Was So Wrong, People Couldn’t Stay Silent Any Longer

I don't think they could peel the plastic film off the packaging if they can't peel an orange?

My mother has chronic arthritis in all upper joints, among other issues, and would neither be able to peel the orange OR open the container. She certainly couldn’t use a peeler or knife as others suggest. Though I agree this would be useful for some, there also has to be a better, less wasteful way of doing it, and lets be honest, disabled people will make up such a small percentage of the people buying these, it’ll largely be lazy folk.

There are specific spoons which serve exactly this purpose... Wasteless. The presentation here looks much like this is a useless offering for lazy people and not a caring one for those in need.

OK, now that's pretty much b******t. I'm 69 years old with some disability in my hands. Occasionally I buy fruit in plastic containers and—believe me—opening the man-made containers can be a real m***o. I'd much rather struggle with orange peel. Or just cut the damn thing with a knife.

Based on this argument - every single piece of fruit, veg and food should be packed like this. 'Because it's easier' is not a valid argument against cleaning up the friggin' planet.

Although I commend your comment, if they are not able to take off the peel, they may have problems separating the segments anyway...

Are you kidding...*I* personally have trouble, and I mean serious trouble opening those plastic containers due to slight arthritic problems in my thumbs. I HATE them, and most pill containers too for that matter. I find it much easier to simply bite into the end of the orange to start a spot to peel it and work a spoon under the skin, then move it around until all the skin is off. No packaging involved, just the orange skin...problem solved!

Our environment and our planet are more important that people who can't unpeel an orange...that is just a simple fact.

ON THE CONTRARY: far too often plastic packaging requires a very sharp blade AND hand-strength to fight it open!

People who would struggle to peal it with their hands would also struggle to pull it apart though. It's only done half the job if this was the case. I've helped people with these difficulties. So as I can see where you're coming from this still wouldn't serve the problem if it was the case.

^THIS. I am very ill. I just hurt my arm using a can opener. If I gottq buy pre peeled pre chopped food to be able to eat I will do so.

Wouldn't an automatic can-opener and a tin of mandarin oranges be better then? More bang for your buck.

True for navel oranges but these are mandarins and far easier to peel than that package is to open

How can you be so selfish ?the earth is drowning in plastic and you say there's people who can't open an orange but can open a plastic tub??? And there's always ssomeone around to peel an orange for these people who can't keep them and if not then buy a Apple or a fruit that does not need peeling .... because of people like this there's tons and tons of plastic in the sea ...

Usually, there will be someone around who can peel it for them. Everyone is getting sick from the plastic soup in de ocean. The fish eat it, fish is eaten, all that superfluous plastic is reentering our food chain which makes us all ill and handicapped.
