My name is Milton Conqui, an aspiring photographer from Mozambique, specifically from Chimoio town (1200km away from the capital city of Maputo). I started photography in 2012 when I bought my first camera, and taught myself how to handle photography.
In 2016 I decided to make a step forward in my photography passion and decided to work on a project that ended up being a photography exhibition, the first one I have ever done. Thus, I started photographing the streets of Chimoio, and the collection of these photos built a portfolio showcasing the beauty in the simplicity of the town. Mainly architecture, and some pictures of people on their daily activities in the streets of Chimoio is what we can see in the photos.
On the 17th of July, the town celebrated its anniversary and displaying these photos to the public helped locals to celebrate the town’s anniversary by enjoying art through my photography.
There is definitely a story behind every image in this collection of photos, some have memories for the citizens of the town, and others help society think about social differences that every community has.
