Woman Asks Twitter If There’s A Man Who Wants To Be Her Wedding Date, 3 Years Later…
2Mviews
When you think of online dating, Tinder and OKCupid are usually the first things to pop into your mind – but what about Twitter? A Londoner named Llia Apostolou needed a date for her sister’s wedding back in 2014, so she put out an open call to the men of the Twittersphere, and one response she received ended up changing her life.
As Llia’s post was going viral with hundreds and hundreds of retweets and likes, a guy named Phil Gibson came across it and volunteered himself as tribute. “I can do this, I’ve got a suit and everything,” he enthusiastically commented, and so the awkward-slash-adorable banter ensued. Though Llia later admitted that she ended up going alone to the wedding for unknown reasons, she did meet up with Phil ‘IRL’ later that week, and the rest is history.
Read the full modern love story below, and let us know if you’ve ever unexpectedly met someone special online!

One enthusiastic response caught her eye, and an adorable-slash-awkward stream of banter ensued
Exactly 3 years later, Llia and Phil did a lot more than just follow each other on Twitter!
The Internet is now completely in love with their story, which is pretty much straight out of a movie

I can't help but picture him yelling I've got this! Then ripping off his shirt and there's a suit underneath.
I laughed so hard picturing that! Thank you!
*giggle* Thanks for putting that in my head *falls off her chair laughing*

Lol
That's nice and everything but can someone tell me why do you necessarily have to have a date for a wedding? Why can't it be enjoyed if you're on your own?
Perhaps it was a family wedding and she didn't want to deal with questions. Or maybe it was a wedding she just didn't want to attend alone.
I can tell from her name and surname she's greek. Having to face your greek family in your sister's wedding without a date is a major no-no. You'll spend your night with your whole kin on your case, on "why r u still single, can't u c your sis, she wised up"... and all your aunts that want to introduce u to that son of their best friend who's such a lovely lad. Instead of celebrating your sister's wedding, u'll have to go through this :p I can totally relate to her being sarcastic on this situation, she knew what she was about to go through :)
Helen (Ελένη) I was going to say the same thing, since I am Greek as well and have seen that multiple times to my cousins, etc...LOL
Just watch 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding' for the answer to that one...
Because weddings are awful and misery loves company.
It's usually to make not-so-close relatives stop asking questions along the line of: Do you have a boyfriend? With all other questions and comments that follow when you say you're single.
It depends on the wedding. I am a free spirit and usually don't bring a date, but every once in a while there is a wedding where it seems necessary.
Because showing up alone to a wedding is a sad commentary on one's life. You rarely see happy and/or successful people showing up stag to a wedding or other large social gatherings. Of course, there will always be an exception, but this is simply the reality for the majority of events like this.
It is all about your personal preference, nobody has a right or wrong perspective, she felt she wanted a date, some don't, enough with internet shaming!
Because if you don't you'll usually find yourself seated next to the most boring single person of the wedding. You know, the one who didn't have sex for months and is desperate so he doesn't understand "nope, not interested, get lost, use your hands and forget me" and stays glued to you all evening.
Women are typically harassed at weddings if they show up alone.
Because she is from greece thats why.because her mother told her so.her mother's mother told her so.her mother mother's mother told her so...and so on so on so on
